Well the norwich again seems to be tail pumping again, he seems to have only a few days off the meds where he seems ok. It is becoming a chronic issue. Its a struggle to keep him healthy? He came that way. I have now given up totally on him being able to father any chicks.

He is separated again. I am trying another respitory drug. Im getting f'n shit of this shit.

At least no one died today anyway. Im starting to get really hardened about it.

I've also decided to sell the one hen parrotlet. After he biting the males foot for no good reason, she is outta here. I would prefer to get her a home as a one home bird as a pet.

That way I can enjoy the mild manner of the male. He is sweet and I want him to stay that way. The ad went into kijiji today.

You mentioned this before I think. Could it be the breeder ur getting some of the birds from. I know you don't know the answer to that but might be a hard thought not to go back to the same person. :ermm:

Vi, he is long out of business and I have not taken any further birds from anyone. In fact, I have pretty much given up on rescuing as they were bringing in disease to the rest of the flock. I deem it not worth it anymore. I just want to maintain my own good stock now for my own pleasure or odd sale.

It is just too risky, and non rewarding as they always seem to be hard to cure. The last rescues were peckinpaw and roger. I believe now that peckinpaw has giardia and the typical signs of the ripping her feathers out, on her back and chest and scratching her head. I will go thru the entire 3 x 5 day treament with 7 days in between to try and clear the entire flock of the disease once and for all.

After that, I will take stool samples to the vets to see what the hell else is going on.

Based on my last fecal test, they had overgrowth of e coli and giardia.
So the problem seems to be finding a bloody drug that kills the e coli once and for all. Seems that I get partial results and then they relapse, so my have to buy another drug or use them longer.

That E-coli is just hard to get rid of. I agree, maybe using drugs longer could do the trick.

Vi, she looks a chunk better, she has grown in alot of feathers but now I am suspicious that she does indeed have giardia, even tho her poops are good. I am determined to rid the flock of it once and for all.

The budgies get the stronger dose of metronidazole and the finches and canaries are getting the Ronex. Weaker safer dose.

Pass, I have dont so much to them, Im gonna kill them or make them bloody sterile with so many fn drugs.

I am giving them a week of vits, and minerals now and green food and thrive and whatever I can give them to boost and strengthen them before the next two rounds of giardia meds. They JUST finally got to eat some grit and oyster shell and charcoal today after what seems like a month!!! They ALL went down to the dish including the finches and canaries. They certainly know what they need, thats for sure.
