Well, they have 6 fertile ones and I guess within a week they will hatch out.

Im nervous. Its alot of work if they dont feed. Inchy has built his nest but he doesnt seem to be sitting on
his fake eggs during the day. I think I may have to switch to another shape or color of egg.

If not, then its all up to me if the parents dont work out.

Does Inchy have a partner? Get him another male societies and they should sit within 5 days. But if they didn't there is always you to feed hahahaha. Thank God I don't do that :)

Oh yes he and his male bud have not been separated since I put them together almost a year ago. Its such alot of work and worry, that I hope the parents just do it.

Pass, wouldnt it be awesome if they were split for blue, I could get all sorts of colors including silvers and blues, like 6 different combos. Now that would be AWESOME. I hope they all survive.

I have everything ready in case I have to take over.

I stand corrected. I just now looked in the nest again. There is 5 not six eggs, I had a quick look before and thought it was six as one was laying on top of another and I didnt want to forage around too much.

Anyway of the 5, 4 look good and one looks like it may have gone bad.

So they are full and I suspect within the week they will hatch. Fingers crossed.

Cathy so far 3 have hatched and one more on the way, and one dud. I thought there was 6 eggs, but it was 5 in total and one that was addled. So hopefully 4 healthy chicks.

The egg I moved under Inchy hatched out and I took him and the other two and have them in the brooder for the night. I left the last egg under the goulds, it should hatch tonite or tomorrow, then I will feed the 3 bubs and put two under Inchy and one more under the goulds and see if they start to feed or not. For now, I slipped 2 warm eggs under the goulds so that they have the full feeling under her belly for the night.

The third one that hatched out has a red wing tip JUST like urs. He seems so small and dehydrated, probably from a difficult hatch, and when Inchy assisted, may have hurt the wing.

I put him under Inchy on purpose as I could see that he was taking too long to hatch all the way out. So he got some sugar water for strength, so I am hoping he is strong enough to carry on.

It will be yet another juggling act with this set of 4 I hope.

Pass, so far they are alive. I fed 3 times overnite. I will attempt to put them back under parents when I get back in from my errands.

I read that for the first 2 days I can supplemental feed them every two hours until the parents either take over or abandon. Will try this for now.

I may take the last egg that has not hatched yet but is in drawdown and give to Inchy to set.

I believe he hurt the wing tip on the one when he helped it out of the egg as he had not pitched it or tossed it. So I wonder if ur guy had the same thing. The adults bite at the eggshell while the chick is still in to help it hatch. I have actually witnessed this with Inchy twice. Im bettin he accidentally chomped the wing lol. Better a sore wing than a dead in shell while hatching.

Will post pics when I get back.

Well, not going too good. I had left the one LIVE fertile egg left overnite with the parents. I candled again this am and it was fine and drawndown and was waiting to hatch.

So ANOTHER thing I just learned. Even tho I read that they will hatch within 24 hours of eachother, often all at the same time. DONT wait, if one or two hatch and the last dont hatch out within 12 hours or so, go ahead and assist. The last egg, I checked just now to put under Inchy, was dead in shell. I should have clued into this as well as I had mentioned that the last chick looked dryer and or dehydrated compared to the first two.

Well I guess the second to last that was dry would also have died had I not given it to Inchy to hatch out.

Anyway, as it is, he is not doing so well. He seems to not be gaping or asking for food, I cant seem to convince him to open his mouth and gape. He felt colder to the touch so I put him lower down on the paper towel and not in a basket to get better heat. He seems to be doing the gasping that they do before they die. So not sure he will make it.

I was gonna put them under Inchy today to see if he would feed, but I feel they are too weak and wont gape well enough for them to feed. I will have to give it a day or so. I was hoping to give them back to the parents, but I dont see that being successful either.

Both parents are out of the box on the perches and they just do NOT tolerate hardly any nest inspections. I have them on 3 dummy eggs hoping they continue to sit for a day or so and if the bubs are strong enough, my plan was to put them back under to give them a fighting chanse to raise their own.

If they dont go to the nest, I will separate them if any of these bubs live. If they die, I will let them go yet a THIRD bloody round. I cant believe how many have to die, just to get a few.
