Ok check this out???????????? Bizzarre but........ My hen, that looked like she broke her pelvis. Could not perch, poop WAS perfect. Well when I put her in the hospital cage, I saw a perfectly nice tight poop. Great color??? everything right. So, why did I giver her a shot of baytril and medicam. I gave medicam for the supposed broken anything. I gave baytril for what reason I dont know, I figured even one or two days worth via syringe into the breast cant hurt. Well today she is UP ON HER FEET, on a perch and her poop is the ugly E-Coli green. Well enough formed but that ugly sick green. So I switched her meds and will see how she does. So now, how did this affect her insides. When I saw the one foot seemingly paralized, unable to perch, alert enough and yet thinking can something inside be grossly swollen from an infection, pressing on her pelvic nerve causing this one sided paralisis. Thats why I gave the injection two days ago. Anyway, whatever it is it worked so far, so she will get a further 5 day treatment. I may treat the entire flock in that flight. Not sure tho as the poops there seem fine. Very strange. I hate when I cant find WHY something is happening. I would have sworm she broke her pelvis, her stance was so wide and the one food useless she couldnt even stand on it. To find that it is some type of infection, very weird. Happy tho and hope she recovers completely and fully, as I said, she is a sweet hen. Again, I type this stuff so if anyone else runs into a similar problem, dont think just broken bones, treat the whole bird. |
