Hi,
I'm back to breeding my beloved Goulds ad I started with my Silver male and a blue female. They had 6 eggs and they ate 3 of them for breakfast one day. Then 2 of the remaining three were infertile and the last one hatched this morning.
I knew it hatched cause I saw the chick on the floor tossed. I took him, warmed him up in my cupped hands, fed him then popped him under a brooding pair of zebbies.
At first he got slightly pecked at but nothing serious just minor stuff and after 4 hours of praying lol, they accepted him and fed him Phewwww!!!
I hope he makes it and he is silver I think.

Well they eat any broken eggs so it doesn't make a mess. However, I think the male was breaking them intentionally. And yes, I've had this problem a few times before with newbies.

Hmm, I hope I dont run into that. One pair is on 4 and the other 5 or 6 so far, but I havent looked today. I think they have started to incubate as I dont see them out of the boxes much the last two days, and I dont want to disturb them so that they do break or toss eggs or chicks. I'll candle in a week or so.

Bub is ok this morning,
A friend called saying that his pair have starting hatching their bubs as well, but are tossing them and he has already lost one baby and the other is getting tossed. So I told him he could bring the chick and any unhatched eggs to be put with mine.
He will decide later he said. I hope it won't be too late.
