Ok, Pass, this is a new thing Im doing for he bubs. I noted that Inchy was giving almost exclusively protien via corn and egg, so I took two eggs, poached them for 10 min out of the shell, then put them in my magic bullet with the poaching water and whipped them up and am now using 50% this to the formula via crop needle. Will see if this extra protein helps with their growth. I am seeing green on the backs now and the pins are opening up. I want to make sure they are getting as much protien as they need.

CBL, That is an awesome way to go. Goulds feed insects to their bubs in the wild, so they sure need extra protein in that time of their lives.

Pass its working out great with the liquid egg. Well its really whipped egg, bright yellow mixed with that water to make it smooth enough to go thru the canula. So far so good.

This morn tho, I gave the formula too cold for the third bub. It screamed like I was axe murdering it. I had to pry its mouth open to fill it with warm formula. What a cry baby. I may name that bird cry baby. Drove me nuts with the screaming. Better cold than a crop burn tho.

Problem is by the time I feed the first two, the syringe is cold enough for the third. I have to keep the syringe in warm water or maybe I will do the two syringe thing and rotate them. One in warm bath and one feeding. I used to do that before, looks like I have to do again.

Oh, ya, I think Im gonna starve then longer between feedings then. I was doing it every 1.5 to 2 hours, now I think I can go 2.5 to 3.

I really did laugh out loud at the baby pitching a fit because the formula was too cold.

I love those photos. They look so cute -- so tiny but they have the ability to pitch a fit if their food isn't just so.

Merry Christmas.

Hhahah u got that right. Diva little rats. Thats the same reason I named my budgie Diva, she would whine and cry and complain if I wasnt fast enough. I sense another diva in the crowd.

Pass. Someone sent me an article awhile ago saying when u tap the side of the nest and the birds hunker down and hide, they are males, only the females stay fast. Do u notice this with any of urs? I note that mine all do. They scuttle backwards and try to hide initially. Then they gape.

None of mine scuttle backwards. So in theory, all of urs are males and all of mine are females. However, I'm not sure this is a correct sexing method.

Me either, but how happy would I be to have all males lol. :) BRIGHT orange heads that I like lol.

Time will tell. Today tho at 4 hour apart feedings, they did that less and gaped more lol. I had to space it that far apart to make it to both family homes for xmas dinner. Worked out ok. Will post pics later tomorrow.
