oh my gosh, that was funny. I really did laugh out loud. Am enjoying reading this thread but don't have much to say or contribute since I have never bred a bird. Edited by Tishrei, Dec 10 2010, 06:57 AM.

Thanks Tish, Vi, its nice to make you laugh. No even if u dont have any imput, its definately just fun to follow and read. I intend to make one or more quite tame. Would be nice to have a calm gouldian to breed down the line and have a calmer species that maybe doesnt abandon their eggs or be too spooked. I literally stick a flashlite up the finches butts 10 or 20 times a day to lift them off the chicks to make sure they are feeding, I remove babies left and right and replace and switch. Hey Switch is another name Im gonna use lol. Yet, they still remain calm and arent even afraid of this snake lite. Makes for great parents. Doodoo is so unafraid that he launches at me and tries to rip my finger off. I told him last nite, "Im not scared of you doodoohead". He was NOT amused lol. I was tho. |

Cathy, I am still the night shift. I have now again pulled Booboos bub. I went in and he was cool to the touch although well fed. So he went into the incubator to warm up, I topped up his feed and put him back under Inchy for the nite. They get the two larger bubs and I pull the 3 teeny ones for a feed up until midnight and once in the nite, top them up in the morn and then Inchy gets them and Doodoo gets one of the large ones. I may put both large ones in with Booboo after, so if he stays out of the nest too long, they have eachother to keep warm. Thats tomorrows plan. I think I will do this for a few more days and when the smaller ones are big enough to take the 8 hour night of no feed then I will leave them under Inchy and will pull Booboos two for the incubator nightly till feathered and then can leave them. ![]() Juggles it is and Switch as well for the two big ones. The teeny ones have no names yet. |

CBL, Gouldian parents stop brooding the bubs by day when they get 10 days old. So soon your bubs will no longer need that much warmth and you should monitor the incubator temp so it doesn't get too high for them. |

Ok, ya I read that somewhere in my book. Funny u say that as I had the incubator @ 100 last nite for the teeny ones and this morn they seemed restless so I cracked it open. They are now back under Inchy, so he keeps them the right temp. I just top them all up via teat canula now as after 3 or 4 days they have a big enough gape to take the canula. Now they are all under their respective fosters and my ass is going BACK to bed zzzzzzzzzzzz |

How come you have to do it when they are so little? Cause its easier? Sorry I don't know the reason.
