Inchy again; On eggs

I just came from the show and checked the eggs, we have external pipping started on the one egg, and the other Im a bit worried, there is a hole in the end by the big air space so I think the finches have done that and if to, I dont think the carbon monoxide will build up enough for the chick to start the contractions to hatch. So that one will be a miracle if it hatches. Piss me off.

I don't know how you do it. Every time I think I am smart and brave something new happens.

Sorry about the egg maybe he will hatch inspite of it. Sure hope so. I forgot today was your Bird Fair.

Hope you had fun. I see you came home with a new birdie. :)

I hope the egg is okay. Who knew Inchy would turn out to be such a good daddy.

Well, I took that egg out and patched it up with an infertile one, broke a piece with the white liquid and stuck it on and then glued 3 tiny drops of glue on the perimeter. Will see if I did it in time before the internal pipping. If I did, then the gas will accumulate and he may hatch. I hope it works. Maybe too late tho and the membrane may have already dried out. Will see in the next two days for sure.

Incubation is between 15 and 17 days for Goulds. Is it a Gould?

Hhahaha sure is, I JUST went now and had a look with a flash lite and saw the glorious glowing mouth markings :) I wrote on the calendar the day 1 of the goulds laying the eggs. On my calendar it says, Oct 2 first gouldian egg laid and I put it under Inchy that day and he sat that day. It seemed like such a long time on the eggs, so I went and counted the days.

I thought as of early yesterday that they were both dead in shell as the external pip line was there for like 3 days. It was a nice surprise to see the chick late evening, but then I worried that it was so small and not being fed overnite, that I thought for sure it would be dead by this am. It is gaping and Inchy just fed it. Now his partner is also tanking up on the soft food and will give it a feed Im sure. I just pray that all the stuff I did for the mites has worked and that nothing kills the little one.

In 3 days time we shall have the answer. I also bought a product called save-it at the show. 10 small envelopes cost 27 bucks. I was told after I bought it that it was a smokin deal. Buddy said that his store sells the individual envelopes for 7 dollars each. So it should have cost me 70 bucks :) It is a mild antibiotic vit mineral mix for the water for the first five days on 5 off then 5 on again for adults in the water. For bubs, it says 15 to 20 days of the birds life in the soft food. I may just sprinkle a bit with my fingers as it says 1 envelope for 2.2lbs of food.

Great news about the chick! I was amazed by the pictures we saw of those mouth markings. I've never seen anything like it before. :)
Really hope the other egg survives and is able to hatch.
