thanks. seems mostly common sense items. I will have the breeder and vet give me a list for the specific species of bird. I am trying to get a list up off what I need and after being chosen will start getting things.

One site suggestion: Styptic Powder, Latex Gloves, Eye & Skin Wash, Sterle Gauze Bandage, Scissors, Forceps, Iodine Antiseptic Swabs, Antiseptic Towelettes, Gauze Pads, Cotton Swabs, Adhesive Tape, Hand Wipe, Emergency Card and Kit Direction Card. A must for every bird owner.

One site that seemed informative: wingedwisdom.com is a bird magazine has alot of useful information, I did not want to post the "First Aid Kit", since that felt rather like stealing.

If we can come up with a general basic kit: I will post it so it will always be available to all members in emergencies. I will also be sure to update what I have, now that I look at the information I realize I do not have what I need. So thanks for making us all think about this

That would be great to have on hand for easy reference.

thanks for the info. thinking so much bird wise I never stopped to think of human first aid needs to go with it. also gonna stash some cash for the vet bill and gas in the kit, as well as something for the stress an injury will cause me. Also gonna put those heat/ice packs that you get. I live in Ct and during the winter I dont want to wait for the cars heater to get going with a bird in the car

small ziploc bags for droppings samples for testing would be a good addition, as well as printed directions to emergency vet if not used to getting there. better idea program info for multiple emergency care vets into gps to save time in an emergency.
