Yes, technically it is a yellowhead, but there is a clear distinction between yellows and orange, black and red. I LOVE the orange heads, his name is Nemo :) My sis in law named him and I loved it.

Me too, he is a stunner, so the bub that Incy and mate are raising is an orange head for sure as both parents are, but will have to wait and see if hen or cock. If the eggs they are on are infertile, then I will put them in the flight and set up the yellow pair for one clutch. I will use Inchy for backup again. By then he will have a rest from raising the bub. He is a bit lean as he is just doing his fatherly duties. But I let him out of the cage daily for a flight and a bath and to top up on seeds for himself. He is great, then he gets back to the business of his bub. lol, he is amazing to say the least.

Zippie has now left the nest yesterday and they are feeding him well. So far so good. Will see how it goes, the second clutch of orange head eggs were clear, so I took the nest away, put them into the flight and will attempt a mating of the yellows now.

I also took the eggs away from Inchy for now so he just concentrates on the bub and I will start putting eggs in his nest when the yellows start to lay, for now there is no nest in the gouldians, I am giving them time to get used to the new breeding cage from the flight.

Zippie is pretty sweet, unafraid and lets me handle him/her. Very sweet temperment. I will handle her daily and let her out with dad to see if she baths. It was amazing, I had Inchy outside in the flight with the other finches and canaries today. When I put him back to his cage the bub started beggin immediately and he had to reach over top of the other male to feed the bub on the other side of the same perch. He is beyond an amazing dad. He has exceeded all my expectations of a great father. goes to show u, an unafriad hand reared, super tame finch, who has imprinted on both me and other birds, is THE best dad EVER!! Shattered that myth eh, of not being able to breed and recongnize his own kind. He is obviously the dominant one in the pair. I am so proud of him and he remains very tame with me and will come see me daily. Today, when I pished for him, he flew to my upper lip, hung on like the cat hangin ten and gave kisses. I would love to get a pic of that.

I shake my head in wonder of how lucky I am to have him. He is tamer than booboo and I had raised both from egg stage. Booboo is still tame but he is a mans man and wants his freedom to fly all the time wherever he wants, where Inchy will fly to me and I can put my finger up for him to step up ANYTIME anywhere. Booboo only lands on me when he wants or when he is scared. Little ratbag lol. But Booboo is much more vocal to me asking me all the time I walk by to go out to the flight or out of his cage. I am moving him and his blind gouldian friend to a bigger cage today and then they will get free flight time when I can. Booboo will yap at me when he is in the outdoor flight as well. He is quite the character.
