Maryann calm down. Remember (THE STRESS FACTOR for you.) The birds are the ones that finally calmed me down this morning. I pulled my chair up to their door and started telling them my sad story. ha ha Then I went back to the computer. Before long they were in my hair and dive bombing me. That made me laugh and then I felt better.Your friend had good advise. I guess the breeder knew if she threatened to kill the linny you would come to it's aid. Pretty sneaky! I'm sure glad I don't have to make a living selling and killing animals.

Here is my reply and then hers and finally mine again. No, Im happy for the little guy, but, u took a chanse when u said we/me/jill could just have the bird and then changed ur mind when u saw it was fixed. Glad I didnt have my heart set on it. But remember YOU offered me the bird for free or you would euthenize it. Your words exactly, I didnt ask for a free bird. I was surprised but releived when Jill didnt make a fuss. You were lucky. But as per your advise, I will have no choice but to start charging something for my time and knowledge in the future. If u dont have cash to spare then we must work out a barter or trade or something, eg: seed, or whatever. We also are on ONE income, not two. I dont make a cent, the odd dog groom here and there. I only wish u the best for your critters. I need more birds like a hole in the head, I had no intention of taking your little one, BUT rest assured if in the future u needed me to take a bird free and I was in the position to take it, u MUST make absolutely sure that u dont want it as I do have love at first site for them. If we had made our original deal for me to keep the bird, I would not have been able to give it back to u. U know i dont sell and would never sell it, but Im not stone hearted , I dont and wont pay for birds as many people contact me and want to dump them off. A lady wanted to dump 4 budgies on me. I placed them for her and got two cages out of the deal, barter, nice trade off, we were all happy. Regarding your drive time, gas and expenses, that girly is your choice, it has nothing to do with me, glad u made it, I think it was the right one, glad the bird is doing well, never say never remember, die trying. Remember not to act too hasitly either regarding the comment of you will have to euthenize it otherwise. I didnt like that. Where theres a will theres a way, even if I am not available next time, I think u need to build a repore with a local vet who will attempt what I did for a reasonable fee. If the bird is worth 450ish, a few dollars at the vet to save him is warranted in my opinion. I think u still have room for profit there. I have taken many birds to the local vets that were non avian and worked with them. We always seem to work something out cheaply. Eg: Nathan called yesterday and had the nerve to ask me if I would "drop by" to look at a newly hatched chick, in WOODBRIGE. Is he crazy, drive 3 hours round trip for FREE to "look"at a newly hatched chick because he is nervous and never had one before, NOT, he can move closer too. I cant work for free. I have less than both of you and wont be taken advantage of. At least u made the trip for the greater good. Oh and in the future, I would just order direct from Foys as not to put anyone out and I would rather get my order post haste than wait any length to save a buck. It was torture for me to wait, so was happy when u did deliver it sooner than later, but I would have been just as happy to pay the shipping direct from foys, I dont have the patience to wait. Now her reaction to the above: No worries... I'll think more carefully next time and seek help closer to home. All the Best, Jane http://homesteadshatchery.homestead.com/hhh.html Breeder/Exhibitor/Hookbill Judge/Cockatiel Foundation U.S. Panel Judge African Greys, Galahs, Cockatiels, Lineolated Parakeets and finally my last words: Sounds like a good plan. |

You know what? I think what you said was straight forward and very kind and loving. I did not like her snootie reply. She thinks she is punishing you. You know what I got to say to that don't ya? Of course you do ........ and it's "X" rated. Is that the same lady that was making all that lovely food? I think you sent her website before. I'll look tomorrow. I don't know Maryann .... I guess when you make a BUSINESS out of animals crappy things happen all the time. It's a cry'in shame. Some little guys find their way to good homes...I'm happy for that. |

Hhaahha punishing me, in her warped mind, may be true, but she did me a favor. I made the decission based on this. What has she ever done for me? NOTHING, but dump mangled birds on me and then gripe about her money loss. My hubby and me calculated conservativly that she grosses 62,000 a year on babies, dont know what her cost is, but I know its cheap, heres why. She feeds shit grade welfare millet spray and I mean as thin as my baby finger, Ive seen it with my own eyes. She buys handrearing formula cheaply by the bucket and I mean a bucket. She does NOT feed SEED, remember the shabby shape pasha was in when he came to me. Skinny, bald headed and broken feathers. He is absolutely MINT and looks fake he is so tightly feathered now. She only gives this as food daily rice and beans, what is cheaper than ethiopian feed, rice and BEANS, soup mix. She never pays a vet for a bird, she tries to just hand feed till they recover or die. Recently done with a beautiful hen tiel, that I begged her to take to a vet, she declined. So her cost is ugly low. She charges top dollar for her stock, other breeders shake their heads and dont know how she convinces people to part with the cash. Marketing and sales I guess. Go onto her site and check the prices of the tiels if she has them. Even the linnies. My estimate was conservative. There was no "misunderstanding": at all. Take the bird or I kill it, oh u fixed it, give it back. Idiot. I laughed at the reply like I gave a shyte. My hubby was livid for me, I told him not to even stress about it as she is on her own now and will have to pay a vet or watch her stock die. Who will she turn to now??? U gotta be some type of stupid to insult the only person who has ever done anything good for you. So, when I asked the hubby, what has she done for me, what value does she have for me, the answer was absolutely Zip! So that email was to cut her loose and she got the jist and bye bye ":) Im so ok with that. I look forward to my own advancement and breeding protocol and happy pet owning customers ![]() Jill said to me today, she has yet to meet a breeder that was not all about the money, I said, let me introduce myself lol. |
