She might but Goulds take care of the babies together and each parent sits on the babies and feeds them half of the time. With 4 bubs and on her own it would be too much for her since she's an old bird.
Violet,
Young parents sometimes get everything confused and see their babies as threats or foreign objects in the nest so they discard them. They will make great parents for most of them when they get a year older.

No, just her head is dark, her breast is light as well as her belly, I guess u would need to see her beside the male of the same mutation. They are so dark and crisp.

Pass I have to ask, in nature there is usually a reason for their cruelty, do you have any idea why dad would do this. He is beautiful but not to good in the daddy department

The last egg hatched so we're back to 4 bubs fostered with zebra finches.

Oh, get this: While I was checking the bubs I saw one wiggling too much. It was weird so I picked it up for a closer look and it seemed like he was unable to breathe well. I got a toothpick and opened his mouth only to see a seed husk blocking his airway. Not sure how it got there but I removed it and bub started breathing again... Phew!!
