Pass, get this, I see the eggs with lots of veins and dark spot not two days ago, and I was confused as to why they looked like they had drawdown, but thought, how can this be, I havent even seen them fill up yet to the normal air space, ANYWAY, I go just now to see if anything was getting close and one egg is GONE, so I see that the parrotlet is sitting tight and this usually means a hatching. So I look and in the deep litter in front is A FLIPPIN BUB, cool but alive and fine. So into the incubator it went that was PRE heated for the last week at 100 and within seconds it was gaping, so I gave it a feed on the end of a toothpick, two bites and I can clearly see the food in the crop with NO aspiration. So my hopes is that this bub and the other that is in DEEP drawdown will be able to be raised to adulthood with no worries. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo exciting I cant contain myself. Gotta run now and take pics and tell the guy who gave me the eggs that it hatched!!!! |

Pass, Cathy, MEEEEEEEEEEE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. When I called to tell the breeder, he said, come and get all the eggs, raise them and split the clutch, I said no. I said, the birds have no problems incubating, they MAY need help raising tho. So I asked after the 5 new bubs and the guy John who went to buy the cages said they are all fed. Otherwise I was driving a 3 hour round trip to get them. Pics are uploading now.

OMG, he's so sweet. I'll have mine tomorrow morning I hope. Guys, Guess what happened, my Societies hatched a very pale pink bub with red eyes and they refused to feed it, then they pecked it on the head trying to kill it. So I moved it to another nest and they tossed it out. I guess since bub is very odd looking. After feeding bub I put him in with a pair of Zebras and they fed him so now he's being fostered. ps: I think we should have a finch section on JB since everyone is interested in them now. |
