Of course this is all just 'pie in the sky' right now, and will probably never happen ... but it never hurts to be prepared incase hubby has a change of heart does it? Well that's my excuse for drooling over cages and budgies anyhow! The cage I would love to get for my budgie IF I ever get to have one is this: Lovely cage I thought it was a nice size, it's design apparently keeps most of the husk and mess inside and it's easy to clean. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with it and can give me opinions on it. Thanks!

Well the plastic on the bottom should help reduce the seeds outside of the cage. I find they usually find a way to get some on the floor anyway. I bought a small handvac and use that to scoop of the seeds. Especially with Cappone he kicks them out on purpose, his way of saying pay attention to me NOW. lol |

Did you read the customer review? What kind of birdy would you like to have? |

Yep, I read the review. I googled to try and find more reviews as well and it seems people think this model is a good cage, although some do wish it had a pull out tray. Apparently the older model of this was a bit unstable, but that doesn't seem to be a big problem now. I don't think it would worry me to take the top off the base part for cleaning access and that seems to be something others don't like. After cleaning out 6 hamster cages and a large guinea pig one on a regular basis, I don't really think that would seem a problem though. I just wondered really if any of you had the cage, had seen it or had any opinion on it from looking at it. The cages I had for my previous birds years ago, were typical pet shop, one bird type on a stand, smallish, if you know what I mean? I thought this seemed fairly roomy by comparision. I like most birds (as a pet in theory) but only really have experience of budgies and I just love their characters. So really, if I could have a budgie, I'd be happy.I don't really know enough about other birds as pets. Edited by T. Bear, Feb 3 2010, 01:16 AM.

So does your hubby not like birds or is it just he does not want another pet right now. You mentioned noise, mess. Well mess can be minimized a budgie or two are really not that loud. |

He isn't a pet person and wouldn't have had any by choice. Having said that, he's very much that whatever we get, it always has to be properly cared for and he's really bonded with one of the cats I had and the dog we have now. He doesn't dislike them. I'm the opposite, I adore animals and wanted my kids to learn their value. (They are both animal lovers as well). I've had quite a few pets for them over the years really, but right now we only have the dog. Hubby says he doesn't like to see birds caged. He thinks they should fly freely. He really doesn't like the mess though (my previous budgies were messy , but then the design of the cage wouldn't have helped that). |

Tish sent us a video I want you to see. I couldn't find it in the past posts but if you put Youtube in your search and then type in Parrot loves bunny you will be able to see it. You will love this ... it is so cute, cute, cute. You know I really have enjoyed my budgies and I never regret having 10. If I could I would have 20 (but thats all.) ha ha I love to watch their interactions with each other. I hope you can get a few .... I can feel you really want one. If not .... hang with us anyway okay? I love hearing from you and I know the others do to. |

We love to hear from you, thats for sure, they make cages now with seed catchers, which helps and they also have seed dishes now with covers. However they will still kick a little out. I just grab the dustbuster. Of course its not the budgie seed that is the issue here, its the tiel, he loves to just get in the dish and start kicking. He knows that if he keeps it up I will come over to tell him to stop, so basically what he is doing is training me. |

Ha ha Cathy thats funny. I swear sitting here at the computer these silly budgies fly as fast and close to my head and face as they can get. Guess it's some kind of game for them. Right now "Violet" almost collided with my face. Think I will buy them something new today. I have a $3.00 coupon for Pet's Mart. ha ha Not too often Pet's Mart gives you anything.

It probably is a game to them. Either that or their intent was to land on you but they made a last minute decision to abort the landing. lol |
