Okay, I'll preface this with I know this is weird. I thought I would share a story that some may find a bit strange but I think it's really adorable. Ducky is a morning cuddlebug BIG TIME. I've mentioned that he sleeps on my headboard. He's always sitting there when I wake up in the morning even if I sleep in a bit. Anyway, when I wake up, I usually lift the covers and he climbs down and goes under the covers and sits on my chest. I also cover my head so I can see him. He loves it under there. He loves to have his nostrils scratched (I know, that's really weird) but when I do htat, he lays his head back and closes his eyes while I do that. Then he lifts his wings so I can scratch under his wings. I then pick him up and lay him on his back and tickle his belly. He loves that and lays his head to the side and just enjoys the belly scratching. Eventually I stop and if he's not ready, he grabs hold of my finger with his beak to try and convince me to play some more. Finally, when I decided to get up, I pick him up and put him back on the headboard. He'll either stay there if he's not really ready to start the day -- sometimes it's an hour later before he comes marching out or sometimes, like this morning, he came out right away and headed to his cage so he could go potty. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but he holds it all night until he goes to his cage which is in the living room. If he started pooping on my bed, I couldn't let him sleep on my headboard, that would be rather gross. So far, in all these years, he has not dropped one yet. I have found that when I play lovebugs with him in the morning, he's calmer throughout the day so I try and do it at least for a few minutes every morning. I wonder if birds in the wild do something similar with each other before starting their day. |

Oh that is such a lovely story and so so Ducky. I do not know about wild birds though. Ducky is so lucky to have found you. |

"Lovebugs" how cute. Thats exactly what Eddie and I used to do every morning (of course Ed did not sit on the headboard) but under arm scratching, belly rubs and laying on my chest are the same. I miss that. That is the sweetest story and not weird at all. They are our babies and we LOVE them and they love us back. I used to tell Eddie okay lets rub belly's and he would scoot over real close to me and flip over on his side so we were face to face and then we would fall asleep that way belly to belly with his head tucked under my neck. I think he probably hurts a little now so we don't do much of that stuff anymore. Ducky is just the sweetest guy ever! |
