Well, the stupid zebbies had 2 more fertile eggs in the nest and somehow got enough material from millet spray and buried them, so I have taken them and put them in the brooder with BooBoo and see if they indeed hatch. So I have to turn the eggs about 6 times a day 1/4 turn. With any luck I will have 2 more, time will tell. I hope they hatch it would be so relieveing. I will take the nest away now. Its not worth all the grief. |

Well its been a hell of a nite. Booboo got slow crop in the afternoon and it was gassy and bloated and he was not digesting anything. I tried to get it out via crop needle but the mucous was too thick for the needle size. I ended up using warm water, diovol, apple cider vinegar and kaeopectate with digestive enzymes and pedialyte thru the nite. It emptied nicely and he has diarrhea and I think it was my fault as I had fed him some RE warmed formula which I wont do again. I am feeding him some thin formula now with frequent small feedings to gain back the weight loss and have been adding an enzyme. He has been gaping this whole time BEGGIN for food which is a good sign. But still nerve racking none the less. I am also giving him a 4 in 1 antibiotic to deal with what I think is digestive upset and some kaeo only now. I have stopped all the other stuff that gets the crop empty and hope that this rectifies the problem. He was doing soooooooooooooo well and growing and plump and now I caused this setback. Lesson learned, dont be lazy, dont be cheap, I should have never rewarmed the formula, one of the golden rules. I was just being lazy, not cheap, as I usually give the extra to the two budgie bubs and inchy but they were covered for their afternoon nap. I hope I didnt cost him his life. He looks to be a white zebbie, his pins are starting to show. I will get pics today. |
