OUCH! .......bet he's got a bad headache. Actually that looks terrible how in the world can he survive that. I mean what happens to all the blood that is pooling in there? I guess it would dissolve. Looks like he fell on soft stuff though. |

No, no blood pooling in the head, if so he would have been long dead. I think it was just external bleeding. He didnt land on soft stuff, he landed on the cage floor with the aluminum tray with about 4 layers of paper only. I put a folded towel there now. I keep looking to see if he fell out again. Pass, do the parents switch off from night to day? The white parent is out and the cream one is in now. Is that normal? |

Well Im too paranoid to let the bub stay with the parents overnite. If I am asleep and it falls out or if they dont feed it, it will be dead like the last one, so I took it out for the nite and will see how they do in the morn with it. I have to see that they are feeding it or it will just stay with me. |

Yes CBL it's normal. Finches switch parental duties all the time. |

Well I hope so, I put the bub back with the parents just now as he is gaping and wants a feed. I will check to see if he is full in a bit. Hard to check the nest tho as its one of those dome enclosed ones. I wish I could cut a slat in the back to just peep with a lite. Gotta figure this out. Pass, do ur bird tolerate being checked in the nest? |

Well here he is today eating well and gaping. I found a cleaner way to feed with a tiny white tip on the syringe, goes right into the crop almost. Way faster and cleaner and easier.![]()
