We got a new TV in the living room as a christmas present from my brother. Because of the size I had to move Teamo's cage. Now Cappone and Teamos cages are side by side, only a matter of inches apart. These two guys ignore, absolutely ignore each other. Its as if they do not know each other exist. Before they were across the room from each other. The only time they reacted to each other was if Cappone landed on Teamos cage then it was full out "Jerry Springer" time and I had to rescue Cappone before he lost a toe. These days Cappone would not land on Teamos cage he does not like Teamos hasty attempt at toe removal. How can two birds live side by side and not interact in some way???? Even when Cappone has a "hooting" day and I want to pull my eardrums out because of the noise level and pitch, Teamo just keeps on keeping on? |

I swear its intentional. Today Cappone actually landed on Teamos cage and within seconds Teamo was clinging from the roof going after Cappones toes. Luckily I was close. Cappone has not done that in at least six months. Maybe Cappone read my earlier post. Oh and Ducky is not the only bird who is fussy about scritches. Cappone now will lean his head down and wait, he gives you about 10 or 15 seconds and if your not scratching he starts to squawk. If that does not work he nips at my neck. Of course he also decides when its time to stop. He will lean his head down and I will start to scratch his head then all of a sudden he decides enough, and then he squawks and mouths at me. He never really nips just mouths and he clearly understands "no bite" and will keep mouthing only opening his mouth less and less until finally he justs gives me the "alright i get it" look. He really controls most activity, its a good thing we do not live closer I think Cappone and Ducky would have to have an all out battle for control.

LOL, Ducky really kind of laid back. He only bit Pippy because Pippy was biting his toes. Till this day, he ignores the birds. Watch out for your two -- that's how Pippy ended up with a missing toe. Well, maybe we can get Cappone & Ducky to give each other scritches. I wonder how that would work out, LOL You know, I don't know if I'm doing the scritch right. I squeeze the pin feather till the "plastic" type stuff falls off. He loves that but sometimes I get carried away and end up pulling instead of squeezing and it apparently hurts him because he'll yelp, nip and lower his head for more gentle preening. Six years later and I'm still hurting the poor little Ducky. |

Well they love a little help breaking the pin feathers, but sometimes it is painful for them. Poor Cappone will be preening when he moults and all of a sudden lets out the most horrid sound and you know he has broken a pin feather. Moulting is horrible and my two guys seem to do small moults quite often, and now they seem to do it at the sametime. Right now they are both doing a small moult. Cappone is quite annoyed and crabby, he gets very restless when he moults I feel so bad for him. Teamo for some reason for the last couple of months has "been in season" to put it nicely. He has taken a liken for his bell, somedays 10 or 15 times does he not know its winter. |

This is the first I've ever seen how hard it is on them. Ducky seems to do okay. The three (Fred, Ethel & Pippy) have been having a hard time of it. Ethel is not so bad but Fred & Pippy are having a harder time. Last night I took their cage into the bathroom with me while I took a bath. I closed the door so there would be a lot of steam. They went nuts -- they woke up, chirped, played, etc. I'm going to do it again tonight. RIght now, they are chowing down. That's a good sigh. I wonder why Ducky doesn't have a hard time -- maybe because it's his lack of feathers. |

It really makes them itchy so the steam would feel wonderful, they also like baths when moulting. |
