LOL, I know this is the same bird... I'm just saying that on each pic the color looks different. As i said you will see the final color once the chest is full grown and it would look a little lighter before that. There is also a genetic possibility for the bub to be lilac chest if his dad was split to this. This is why you should never buy a Gould in molt lol... |

But is it a BOY????? The guy said it was singing and jumping. I also hope it is a red face and not black, any idea? Or do I have to pull that feather? |

Ok, the breeder said after using this genetic thingy that for sure this is a boy because it has red on the beak and not black like the mom. Also he said he was for sure singing and jumping. So thats a given then, but he also said, it can have either black or red head. Here is the genetics link page. http://www.amadinagouldove.cz/gouldian-genetics-forecast-online/english/index.php He also said if he has a red headed male bub, I can change for that if I like it better than the black. |

WHAT!!! That breeder has no clue regarding the beak thing... A female could have a red beak just like a male. Only MATURE females that are into breeding mode get the black beak. A juvenile Gould male or female will always have a red beak. |

Yup I just figured that out when I went to the books and the site on genetics, he has only bred two clutches so he has no experience lol. So it looks like mine will be a red headed male split for black according to the genetics forcast. Im ok with that. Still looks like the breast color is lighter than dads tho.

Well I have to post the cage pics here because it wont let me load them on the other section. This is a pine hand made cage from the gouldian guy, I paid him 40, he was asking 50, it is gorgeous and heavy and a work of art, it has a hole for the bath on the right and a flush door on the left. It is very heavy guage wire. I put the gouldian in there himself for now. I also condensed 5 cages down and put the canaries and the finches together. All the hens and then another cage the cocks. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow! That is one beautiful cage CBL. You are right . It is a work of art! Wonder where he got a cage like that. Seems like you are now on to finches. How is the new budgie looking and what about the FD? Is this the same breeder that we talked about before? You know the older guy? Is he trying to get rid of his flock? You have soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many and I have sooooooo many questions. What about the beautiful English budgie? Got my dog book today. Well, I turned to page 29 like you said. Shoot...I think I might have to be some kind of Vet to figure that out. Anyway I just had time to glance at it. Will look at it harder later. ha ha |
