Crap, so the one white I have in the other cage is probably a male as well, and that would make 3 males and one female in one cage. So I guess I better switch them up. I will put the grey hen in and remove the white male. Or I may remove the normal male and keep the white with the grey, a fawn and see what happens.

So when I pluck the feather will it grow in with the new color within 2 weeks. I dont mind waiting tho. Its a surprise. :)

male zebras would sing most of the times. Are they singing? maybe one of them is a female. As i said before I am only looking at a pic.

With the gould, yes, the new feathers would grow back colored.

Pass, I cant tell which zebbie is singing, I would have to use binoculars from across the room to spy, they get drowned out by the budgies and canaries lol.

Ya, u hear them making their little zebbie noises but for the most part they stop when I walk by or if their food is low, they yell at me as soon as they see me. They r smart little birds.

Oh ya, they were doing that the first week they came, as I was putting them out in the sun daily, so they yell at me if I wait too long :)

Ok so can u tell the head color? Wanna guess lol. I see three black dots under the chin and beside, so I will assume it is the bib or beard color, I hope it is a redhead. Funny how I wanted a black head, but after looking at the pics, I rather like the red also. :) Also, Pass, do the colors deepin with each moult? The breast is a lighter purple than the dad has.

Hi CBL,

The colors of the breast do not deepen with the molts but do look light until the whole chest is moulted. Since the deep purple is an optical effect rather than pigments, each feather needs to be in the right place and size to reflect the purple and this is only accomplished when all the feathers have matured and grown to their final length.
Some males have very light beasts and are called lilac chest (I have one) however urs seem a purple chest judging by the first and last pic since pic 2 and 3 show a lilac chest of a FEMALE!!!.
And do I see a red feather on the lower front corner of the eye?
Could you take a photo with natural light and no flash that shows the actual shade he has?

Pass, this is the pic of all the same bird, the 4 pics above are the baby I got, he says it is a male and it was singing and jumping????

BUT when us compare him to dads chest, it is much lighter NOT dark like the dad.... See dad in first pic of the first post.

Is there a possibility that this will be a dilute or lilac even tho dad is dark purple because mom is white chested?????? I would rather have the dark like dad, let me know so I can exchange the bird before he sells the other male. Thanks.
