I want to change all the carpet throughout the house, what kind of health hazard is this to the birds. I know new carpet gives off fumes, how long should I wait to put the birds back into a room with new carpet????

Gassing off will take about 2 weeks at LEAST. I would wait until u CANNOT smell anything urself. Trust ur nose. May even take longer.

I guess that means I will have to do upstairs first, wait a month or so and then do downstairs. I do not want to take any chances. thanks If it is upstairs will the birds be in any danger downstairs. Guess I should also ask about if you install hardwood or laminate. Not sure if they give off fumes or if they use any glues etc.,

Yes any product that is new will gas off. I bought this collapsible dog crate and opened it brand new in the living room, I was on my hands and knees looking into the crate to place the wood pad and furry bottom and my eyes started to burn BADLY, I realized that the plastic weave door front was gassing off. It was BRUTAL. I immediatley dragged it outside. It took months for that stupid thing to get rid of the smell. It would have killed my birds for sure and I dont know what it would have done to any dog stuck inside. There should be a toxic warning for that. How pissed would I have been if my birds died. Not to mention what it may have done to my lungs?

Ya for sure, if I can smell it, it goes out! I pretend I am the biggest canary in my little coal mine hahah. No smells allowed in my home anymore, only open window fresh air, but if someone is burning a smelly fire, windows get closed and air conditioners go on.
