Just read a little about fatty liver disease. I bet that is why Miss Lemmons died. Bird Lady said she was old and didn't feel any tumors. (now that I think about it ... she probably knew she wouldn't last long). I wish these guys would come out of their cage. Maybe they won't because they don't see a place to fly to. Maybe I'll bring up a bird cage from downstairs and see if they fly to it.

Cathy, please forgive me in my panic I forgot to wish you well with Teamo. You sounded so tired. Good luck to you and "Teamo" today starting his new regimen. :)

Gees Teamo thats what you get for being a piggy
from what I know about this problem its from to much fatty seeds - sun flower, canary, millet, seed like that its very common with too's thats why all mine have a seed mix that is only 10% sun flower.

I'll wait to see what the vet recomended and ask a few friends see if we can get Teamo back to good health

Thanks Nat, and everyone, geez when one of the little guys is ill, it sure is stressful. He seems absolutely completely normal. If his peak had not been overgrown I would not have suspected anything. Stubborn little guy he is making all nice with the hubby and everytime I go near him he lets me have it with a very loud series of "get away from me chirps". Naturally he blames me for the awful trip to the vet. i am trying to get more veggies and some fruit to him and I will reduce his seed intake but I am not going to do it drastically as the vet said. I just feel cold turkey to all veggies and fruit and I tablespoon or so of seeds nightly is to dramatic a change and I fear it could harm him. So I am going to attempt to relax and work at it.

Cathy, since you and Teamo have had your experience I have made a few changes myself. I will now only fill the treat cup up maybe every other day. Also, got a bigger platform on which I have been putting the broccoli and spinach (won't touch spinach) and apple won't touch that either. But, as CBL said just keep introducing it to them. So I am trying. They also have dried fruit in their seed mix. But, I don't think they eat that either. Maybe they'd like a big steak and baked potatoe. lol
