Hi gang,
I've decided to post a follow the journey thread for my Goulds so here it goes:
Here's dad:

And mom (front):

They laid 6 eggs of which 4 were fertile. On the 14th of May, the eggs started to hatch and we ended up with three chicks as the first one died. Also, on Sunday 17th, the third baby was dying in the corner of the nest, so I pulled him and handfed him for almost 20 hours then put him back in the nest. I'm glad to say that this has turned his luck upside down and he's now being fed by the parents.

Here's a pic from whern they were born. A new pic will follow tomorrow:

What a colorful mouth, very unique. Really cool. Pass are they noisy? A breeder friend of mine has some he wants to get rid of and asked me if I wanted them? I'm pretty full up here but would take one or two depending on the noise and colors.

I did not paint them if that's what you meant cathy LOL

CBL, their mouth markings glow in the dark. And if you decided to get some don't take one, cause they like to be in pairs.. And regarding the noise, you need 6 Gouldians to match the noise of 1 canary :)

Ok Pass, when I was talking to my breeder friend with the goulds. I told him how odd the bubs looked and when I was sending him a pic, it dawned on me that they had NO down, they look like fat hairless mole rats or something. This naked rat that is blind because it just tunnels in the dark, anyway. He said that they have those funky dots on the mouth because they are in a dark nest and the parents use them like runway lites to feed them in the dark AND that the nodules fall off when they are older????

He says he just got a pair back from his friend who he sent 2 pairs to because he didnt have room for them. Now he got them back, he has his dilute hen and a yellow male. He also has a normal male and the other female died. I mentioned that I would take whatever he doesnt want. So there may be goulds in my future :)
