Sierra's Setback; Back to the vet we go

Thought the sinus infection was coming back even though he has had his drops and meds as instructed. Then this morning it was really obvious. Took him back to vet but she was in surgery and another vet was not prepared to lance so near the eye.

Had to leave him at the clinic and I'll pick him up again tomorrow. They will run on more test for abnormal cells and treat him for me until I get back. On the plus side, he is chipper, playing, eating and preening...and had even forgiven me and let me pick him up again. But maybe not any more after this :ermm:

Just a piece of advise. I would change the perch or wash it really well as these birds wipe their beaks and rub their heads and eyes all the time. If any minute amount of fecal matter from their feet or from droppings on the perch, will re infect FAST.

I am anal now after loosing my parrotlet and having all 4 canary bubs sick. I am changing perches again tomorrow after this new bub has hatched.

I'm with Cbl I would wash the cage with a good amount of bleach / water mix , I would put all the seed / water dishes in the dishwasher (if you have 1 if not wash in boiling water ) with the pearches I would get new ones

fingers crossed Sierra is ok

The vet who saw him last week was in surgery and the vet who was on duty would not lance it so I left him over night. The first vet lanced it this morning and called me. The stuff this time was clear so no infection. They took a slide and are checking for abnormal cells. He has got some more antibiotic for now and are trying to find out it there is some blockage causing the build up.

Sierra is in great form, eating & preening, and they said he was singing and chattering all day!

It'll be a few days before I get the test results and it's the long weekend so that adds a bit more time. Sierra is sooo happy now singing his little heart out and pretty annoyed that he can't play out yet. This time looks like his eye is totally back in the right place. Phew!

Thanks for the support everyone (c:
