Well as of today, they seem to be much better and started to chirp and really reach and gape for food. Still not out of the woods, but recovering well after a harrowing nite. :) Enjoy the pics. I know I do.

Resting comfortably early ev.

Nat, so far they are doing well. I am up now at 4:30 for a feed and they seem fine. Tired during the nite tho, but eating well. I'm always worried they are not warm enough during the nite even with a heat lamp as I have to adjust it for daytime and nitetime temps. They seemed hot and panting yesterday, it was ugly hot here even with windows open, so I moved the lamp away, and yet tonite it is cold in the house so I was up to check and feed them.

I read that u can let them be cooler at nite and that the food moves more slowly thru the crop lasting them the nite. When the are warmer, they REALLY gape for food. I started yesterday to add hulled millet to the food and make it thicker and feed with a straw and they seem to really love it that way, probably closer to what mom feeds them in consistency and texture. They scarf almost too full buldging, so I have to watch them. Dont want them to choke.

Well, the dark one is chirping and gaping well, but the yellow one was a bit slow today, so I am keeping an eye. She? still ate but not gorged full. I will leave a good 2.5 hours between now to see if that helps.
