Welcome to JUICED - a general chat community that focuses on providing an enjoyable place to visit and participate in. JUICED was first established in early April as a closed community; meaning that registrations were only allowed for 24 hours once a month. The idea worked surprisingly well, though it tried up after a few months and we ultimately decided to open the community for good. After another few months and a unsuccessful merge, we're back, and this time, we're here to stay!

Guests who are not registered or logged in only have access to viewing the Community Information sector. To post, participate in the community and ultimately become a member of a fast-growing general chat forum, please take a few minutes to Register!

WEEKLY DEBATE
Posted Image DATE: 14 - 21 November 2009
Posted Image TOPIC: Television Plays a Positive Role in Society: For/Against

Posted Image ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
It's well documented that the Media and in particular, television plays a huge role in society, but the upkeep of said role is often up for debate. We see things on Television that might not be able to happen in Real-Life and allows us to day-dream yet at the same time it can show us images that we never wanted to see happen, it also opens our eyes to a wide world of media.

I think television helps depict us in society; stereotypes etc (I know you hate them, but they're actually true and present in society). I don't think we act because of TV, I think TV notices how we act and exploits that, which people can find offensive and coincidentally; funny.

I think TV can heavily influence younger generations because they watch a lot of TV.
As you get older, your opinion on matters such as politics changes so i dont think its as influencial.

So what your trying to say is that, TV plays an important part of how we make our decisions as younger people, but once we develop the knowledge to think for ourselves, we aren't necessarily influenced by Television?

If you meant something like that, I agree XD

I wouldn't say addicted, maybe they have too much time on their hands.

I watch television when I'm bored or laying on bed. Cartoons probably influence kids, but I think in general as long as you have your own mind you should be able to watch it. It's not much different then the computer so I'd suggest nobody contradict themselves. :P
