Welcome to JUICED - a general chat community that focuses on providing an enjoyable place to visit and participate in. JUICED was first established in early April as a closed community; meaning that registrations were only allowed for 24 hours once a month. The idea worked surprisingly well, though it tried up after a few months and we ultimately decided to open the community for good. After another few months and a unsuccessful merge, we're back, and this time, we're here to stay!

Guests who are not registered or logged in only have access to viewing the Community Information sector. To post, participate in the community and ultimately become a member of a fast-growing general chat forum, please take a few minutes to Register!

Everybody has got to die sometime. May not be today, may not be tomorrow, may not be this year. But you will agree with me that, eventually, we are all gonna die and face judgment.

The universe may end the way it started, with a big bang. Nobody really knows and it's a very hard thing for people like us with little knowledge in the area to predict how it will end. There are so many ways.
My opinions on certain matters are very strong in most cases.
Please try not to be offended by any of my comments, it will just result in flaming.

People of all cultures have been predicting the end of the world for millenia now. But every morning, the sun has still risen and the world continues. Oh, the world will end some day. Nothing lasts forever. Eventually the sun will run out of fuel and it will die, taking our earth along with it. Humanity will probably be extinct by then. It's a long way off!

It is possible that the Mayan calendar is predicting a polar shift. Those happen every 6000 years or so. The last one happened around 4000BCE. It's what turned the Sahara desert and most of the middle east into a desert. They used to be lush and green. So we are due for a polar reversal and possibly a climate shift. It seems unnatural and traumatic because it doesn't happen often (to humans, that is) but to the earth, it's a routine thing. It's possible some people may die, but I don't think it will wipe out humanity or cause the earth to just be some dead lump of rock, completely uninhabitable for living things.

A polar shift doesn't happen overnight. It takes place over a period of time. So there's really no set date. When the poles switch, what is north will be south and what is south will be north. We'll get some crazy weather, perhaps land that was once hospitable will become uninhabitable and vice versa.

If you think about it, every time something major happened in our lives, it was the end of the world as we knew it, but we went on living all the same. So, there's really nothing to get all excited about. What happens, happens, and there's nothing anyone can do to change it.

It's not predicting a polar shift dude, the Mayans had no ****ing knowledge in that category of science, everything they predict has to do with astronomy. On December 21st, 2012 the Sun will align with the middle of our galaxy with the Earth on the direct opposite side. This represents a Mayan game where they would throw a ball into a hoop and the winner had the honor of being sacrificed to the gods with massive glory. The Sun is the ball, the middle of the galaxy is the hoop, and Earth is the player to be sacrificed. That's what scientists and archaeologists have theorized what their prediction is about. We will never know for sure because we only have 3 artifacts of Mayan writing and very little is known from that.

I believe the earth will just blow up one day.

I believe you're wrong, and here's why: The Earth's core is made of stable iron, which is under enough gravitational pressure that despite the immense heat it remains solid. This iron itself weighs enough to pull most of the Earth into a stable sphere, disregarding the large remain chunks such as the 200 quintizillion tons of magma and crust, which is also relatively stable, and extremely heavy. Thus the Earth could not be blown apart even if we detonated a 200 gigaton warhead in the core.
