Korean film "My Way" has been invited to the Berlin International Film Festival

Jan 04,2012

CJ Entertainment, the investor distributor of the movie "My Way" announced on Jan. 4 that the movie has been included in the panorama category of the Berlin International Film Festival. The 62nd annual festival celebrates movies from around the world by showing selected films and awarding film makers with the Golden Bear Award, Silver Bear Awards and the Alfred Bauer Prize.

"My Way" was one of the 20 films to make it onto this year's list of movies in the panorama section. Movies selected for the segment are chosen for their artistic direction and commercial potential. Other Korean films to have been included in the panorama section were "The Unjust" (2010) and "Woman on the Beach" (2006).

The director of "My Way" Kang Je gyu said, "It's an honor and privilege to be invited to the Berlin Film Festival. I hope that the movie will touch not just the Asian movie-watching population, but audiences worldwide."

"My Way" is based on a TV documentary about the tumultuous life of a man who was conscripted into Japan's Kwantung Army and forced to fight for three countries, Japan, the Soviet Union and Germany, during World War II. The film, which cost 28 billion won ($24.3 million) to produce, features Hallyu star Jang Dong-gun and Japanese actor Joe Odagiri.

The movie opened in Korea on Dec. 21.
