02 DESEMBER 2005 Park Ji-sung, Lee Hyo-lee Koreans With Most Brand Power Football star Park Ji-sung, actor Jang Dong-gun and singer Lee Hyo-lee are the Koreans with the strongest brand power, a survey by the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies finds. The group on Friday released the results of a survey of 1,000 consumers in their 20s to 60s living in Seoul and the metropolitan area about which brands came immediately to mind when they thought of some 110 sectors. ![]() From left to right are Football star Park Ji-sung, actor Jang Dong-gun and singer Lee Hyo-lee. Among individuals, the Manchester United striker topped the list in the sportsman category and pro golfer Park Se-ri in the sportswoman field despite rare appearances on the golf course due to an injury. Rain was named the male singer with the strongest brand power and Lee Hyo-lee the female. Jang emerged in a dead heat with Lee Young-ae as the most influential actor. MBC anchor Ohm Ki-young and freelance broadcaster Paik Ji-yeon were most often named in the male and female broadcaster categories. Samsung Electronics’ Anycall mobile phone, the Tromm washing machine, Woongjin Coway purifier, Shinramyun instant noodles, Seoul Milk and 2080 toothpaste were other goods with the most brand power in their category. They maintained their top position for three years running. Pigeon fabric softener, Cuckoo electric cookers, Bekseju traditional liquor, and the Kyochon Chicken restaurant franchise were the most powerful brands for a second year. Other winning brands include the Outback Steak House family restaurant, Dove body care products, Zipel refrigerators, Dimchae kimchi fridges, Whisen air conditioners, the Auction online store, Pavv TV, Olympus digital cameras, Kyobo Book Store, Man with Flowers men’s cosmetics, Morning Glory stationery, Livart furniture, Gillette shaver, Hite beer, and Bodyguard men’s underwear. “Hi! Seoul” was the most powerful local government slogan. The IIPS will hold an award ceremony for winners as part of the Korea Brand Conference 2005 in Seoul on Tuesday.
