I have created this guide as i have seen that not many people use hunter or don't know how to use it. I hope that this guide will make more people see why it is useful and how they can benefit from it. In-game comments made by Final_Res0rt. ![]() 1.1 Gear Required ![]() These are all of the essential items that you need to reach atleast level 63 Hunter. * 8 Bird Snares * 8 Ropes (Shantay Pass) * 8 Fishing Nets (Port Sarim's fishing shop) * 27 Box Traps * 1 Butteryfly net * 27 Impling Jars (Grand Exchange) * The green butterfly net known as a "Magic Net" and is obtained in part 4.1 1.2 Shop Location ![]() Most of the gear can be found within this shop apart from three exceptions and the Magic Net which is untradable. 1.3 Shop Stock ![]() This is a picture of the shops stock to show you what it looks like if anyone needed it. The person you have to trade is "Aleck" as you can see by looking at the name of the shop. Do not confuse what looks like Impling Jars in the shop as they are not, they are Butterfly Jars. Impling Jars are best obtained from the Grand Exchange but can also be obtained in Puro Puro, part 3.2. 2.0 Quickest path to 99 This is what i consider to be the quickest way to obtain level 99 in Hunter, however this does not much cash as it is experience based leveling. Refer to part 3.0 onwards how to make cash using Hunter. 2.1 Level 1-9 These are the first things that you are going to have to catch. The longest levels in hunter are these first 9 levels. This is what puts people off because it can take around 40 minutes just to get 9 Hunter. Once you are 9 Hunter, the leveling will speed up a hell of a lot as you can reach 63 hunter within 3 days by only playing around 4 hours a day, this is not hard as i know many IR members spend much more than this on a daily basis. ![]() These are caught with bird snares. ![]() 2.2 Level 9-19 You then want make your way to the gnome stronghold. The best method to get here is to use the spirit trees and then walk south to arrive at the gate. Otherwise you will have to teleport to camelot and walk all the way around past the fishing guild. ![]() These are caught by bird snares just like the Crimson Swifts. ![]() 2.3 Level 19-29 These are the very last species of bird that you will need to hunt for training your hunting level. Birds can be boring but once they are done, the exp will speed up even more than you think. ![]() Bird snares yet again. Once you hit level 20 you can then set up 2 traps which will make things a little quicker ![]() ![]() 2.4 Level 29-47 You may now want to drop your bird snares because you will no longer need them. Now take out your fishing nets and ropes and leave about 8-12 spaces in your inventry. You will need these spaces because just like the birds, Swamp Lizards are not stackable so you will have to release them once your inventry is full. ![]() I found that using the first spot on the map picture was the best because the traps are relatively close togethor and you are not liable to get attacked by a ghoul. However, this is the spot that most people use, if someone is in this spot then move to the 3rd spot unless you can put up with the ghoul attacking you (rather annoying and may consume food). ![]() Once you are level 40 hunter you will be able to set up 3 traps. 2.5 Level 47-53 Orange Salamanders are located in the Al Kharid desert. However, you will need to remember to stock up on waterskins and desert robes if you really want to. You may also want to bring a knife to save you banking for full water skins. Remember to leave some spaces as you don't want to be releasing the Orange Salamanders as soon as you catch one as it can be too much clicking in one go. ![]() These are also caught by fishing nets and ropes (net traps). ![]() 2.6 Level 53-63 You can now drop your net traps if you want to make cash from here on. If you wish to get exp rather than cash then keep your net traps for Black Salamanders. You will now want to take out your box traps and will also want to equipt some sort of ranging weapon (for example karil's x bow as i show in my screenshots) and no ammo. This is to prevent you attacking the chinchompas causing them to explode (die) and inflicting damage on you. The most annoying part is that you have to then wait for them to respawn! ![]() From doing Grey Chinchompas from level 53 to 63, you can make around 400k which is quite a nice sum of money for a low level in Hunter ![]() ![]() Once you reach 60 Hunter, you can then set up 4 traps. 2.7 Level 63-67 You then will want to teleport to Castle Wars using a ring of duelling. Then you want to follow the red path i have drawn on the picture below to make your way to one of the Red Chinchompa spots. The best spot IMO is the top left one as not many people use it but it is the same speed and amount of chins as the others and is also the one i use :). The top right and top left spot are not advised as they are usually packed as these are older spots used by people who do not know much about hunter and are not getting as many chins as you should be getting if you were hunting on your own. ![]() Each Red Chinchompa is worth around 640gp each, this is a great source of income for a pure and it will most certainly pay for 94+ mage. If you hunt these from level 63 to level 99 you will make around 30m however it may take a months time. ![]() 2.8 Level 67-99 You then want to move onto Black Salamanders that are located in level 20 wilderness, just a tad to the east of clan wars. The best method to get here is teleport to clan wars using a games necklace. ![]() Black Salamanders are caught with net traps which are one small fishing net and one rope per trap. ![]() 3.0 Cash methods (also to 99) Red Chinchompas are a good source of both exp and cash. Most of my cash comes from hunting Red Chinchompas as i want to get 99 Hunter but at the same time 94 mage and a decent bank You will make around 30m from getting 99 Hunter just from using Red Chinchompas3.1 Red Chinchompas ![]() (yes i did use this screenshot before but there really is no point in making another) 3.2 Dragon Implings (Puro Puro) *IMPORTANT NOTE, READ CAREFULLY* ![]() Take auto retaliate off whilst using a Butterfly or Magic Net because every attack style is either a shared or defence attack style. This will guarentee defence exp. Back to the guide You will want to make your way to Zanaris. This means that you have to complete Lost City in order to get here. There are other places to get to Puro Puro but they are not in a permanent place like the crop circle in Zanaris. ![]() Once you arrive at Zanaris, walk south west until you get to the crop circle. Map taken from RuneHQ. ![]() ![]() If you cannot see in the picture, you will only want to run around the whole place a maximum of 3 times and then world hop. This is not a very efficient way of making money because there are too many people doing this and the implings get captured very quickly. You are only looking at around 300k maximum per hour. You may not make any cash at all per hour using Puro Puro. I advise using Mos Le'Harmless. 3.3 Dragon Implings (Mos Le'Harmless) There are a great amount of quest and skill requirements for access to Mos Le'Harmless but you can make up to 1m per hour here! I think that it is worth doing the quests and skill training just to get to this island. Not many people know about hunting here but i am sharing my hunting knowledge with you :). You MUST check the exp gained from each quest because you get prayer experience from many of the quests. If it causes you to go over what you want then do not bother to try and get to Mos Le'Harmless Quest Requirements to access Mos Le'Harmless; The Restless Ghost , Priest in Peril, Creature of Fenkenstrain, Pirates Treasure, Saving Pirate Pete in RFD, Drucidic Ritual, Big Bird Chompy Hunting, Jungle Potion, Zogre Flesh Eaters, Rum Deal, and Cabin Fever. I would also recommend doing Ghosts Ahoy to gain free access to Port Phasmas. ![]() Please ignore my Clan Chat name as i am not racist, it is only a joke title. 4.0 Extra Information These are 3 screenshots that will show you an example setup for Red Chinchompas, Puro Puro and Mos Le'Harmless. 4.1 Gear Setups ![]() Bring 27 traps and leave the last space for the Chinchompas. It is advised to bring full larupia and a bow with no ammo. The larupia gives a better chance of catching the Chinchompas and the bow is so that you do not kill the Chinchompa when you click attack by accident. ![]() Make sure to bring entangles or you best stopping spell apart from ancients. You will need these because the implings at Puro Puro are very annoying to catch when they swap from different parts of the crop circle. ![]() Only bring 4 impling jars as you will not find no more than 4 rare implings per world. You will then want to bring 16 tuna because there are lvl 70 jungle horrors that can attack you and will rip your 1 defence apart if you AFK for even a minute. Lastly you then want to bring 8 energy potions to keep you running because the slower you are moving the more the jungle horrors can hit you, it is also required to run as the Implings can move pretty fast. 4.2 Magic Net ![]() To obtain a magic net, you have to travel to Puro Puro and catch 1 or 2 of each impling apart from pirate, magpie, ninja and dragon. You then have to trade them in to Elnock to recieve your Magic Net. The net gives a slightly better chance of catching the impling you are chasing so i think it is worth getting. 4.3 Trap Formations 3 Traps ![]() 4 Traps ![]() 5 Traps ![]() 4.4 Hunting Worlds The best worlds to hunt in are worlds such as world 2,6,44 and 144. These are because these are the most highly populated worlds. By picking worlds with more people in them, respawning times will be much shorter than a world with hardly anyone in. With a world with 1900+ people in, it does not mean that all the spot will be taken because they are normally empty! 4.5 Questions If you have any further information or questions, Post on this thread or alternatively pm [IR]O_M_F_Dz using IRC. Special Thanks to Final_Res0rt<3 and Skiller Deus<3. Thanks for reading and i hope it helps!
