A Very Brief Introduction Time travel is the concept of moving between different points in time in a manner analogous to moving between different points in space, either sending objects backwards in time to some moment before the present, or sending objects forward from the present to the future without the need to experience the intervening period (at least not at the normal rate). - Wikipedia Time Travellers, in the case of this site, are made, not born. You can be from the other end of the universe in a year which people have given up counting on, and you would still not necessarily be able to time travel. Yes, you could get teleportation pads, and such forth, but you cannot travel through time other than the slow way in which normal people do. Ao Kahn is in charge of time travel. It is him who you should contact if you have been 'Touched by Time'. Time Travellers are few as only a small amount will meet the qualifications needed. Some people can be 'Touched by Time', but never become a Time Traveller, them-self. Becoming a Time Traveller As aforementioned, people will scarcely get the chance to become a Time Traveller, however, a select few will be offered the chance. People who have been 'Touched by Time' (have met a Time Traveller and have spent more than a week with this person in full knowledge of what the person is) should PM Ao Kahn and request to be placed in the Touched by Time group. This doesn't make you a Time Traveller, but gives you one of the qualifications required for the chance to become a Time Traveller. What 'qualifications' do you need to become a Time Traveller? Firstly, you should have become a member of the 'Touched by Time' group. Now that you've been narrowed down to the shortlist, you- or rather, your character, should be at least 18 years of age. It is possible that Ao Kahn will give out PTT watches to those under 18 years of age, who have all qualifications and exceedingly high potential, but this would be rare as time travel is extremely dangerous and, in certain situations, will result in death. You need to be ready to give everything up in order to save a particular time stream, should you cause any major slip-ups. You should be brave and know at least one point in time very well. Time Travellers will be punished if they fail to stick to the laws of time travel as set down by the Protovores of the Orion Nebula and relayed by the Office of Temporal Affairs (8967). So, it would be a good idea if you studied these laws before you take your time travel test. You must pass your time travel test before you can receive a Personal Temporal Transporter [PTT] watch. The Office of Temporal Affairs will have you registered on file as one who has been involved with time travel. If you simply walk about the nearest street, sooner or later, a Time Agent will speak to you. They will offer you the chance to become a Time Traveller. If you agree, you will be transported to a office where you will assessed, before being moved to the testing facility. At the testing facility, you will be given a PTT watch and asked to travel to specific points in time (within the testing area). PTTs given out in tests, are only short range and can only transport within five minutes of the past, and five of the future. (Further explanation will be given during the tests) Advanced exams can be taken to increase accuracy, speed and knowledge of a specific time period. However, these are scarcely required, as most trainees pick up the concept of Time Travel quite quickly. Laws of Time Travel 1. Do not attempt to intentionally create a paradox. 2. Do not attempt to alter major events unless given express permission to do so by office 8967. 3. Do not attempt to reveal the existance of time travel to the general public en masse in any time period. 4. Do not lose your PTT. If you become stranded in time without your PTT, 8967 will be unable to help you officially unless you can contact the local office of Future Communications and leave us a message. The office of Temporal Affairs and the office of Future Communications do not exist past the year 8967, hence it is strongly advised that you do not attempt to travel beyond that date. If you cannot officially contact 8967, try and signal the attention of a passing time traveller. Failing this, try and acclimatise to the time period, settle down, try and forget time travel exists and live a normal life. Punishments Breaking laws 1, 2 or 3 will result in a trial, if found guilty you may be locked into a time loop or simply have your PTT confiscated and be abandoned in your origional time zone. Items (Items can only be legally acquired by occupation) Personal Temporal Transporter [PTT] Watch - A device used to transport oneself through time. Multiple people can use this piece of technology, simply by all taking hold of it. However, it is only really built to transport (at most) three people. If too many people use the same PTT at the same time, serious problems can occur and punishments may be dealt. The PTT watch can change appearance, to disguise itself as something of the period in time it travels to. Time Travellers will be well educated in their PTT watch's workings and will know how to operate it smoothly. Imprint Viewing Glasses - A device Time Agents use to find potential Time Travellers at random. Though possible Time Travellers are usually on file, the odd few do slip the register. Time Agents will seek out any unregistered people/people who the Office of Temporal Affairs cannot contact/law breaking Time Travellers. Note: Most of this, you should not know in character, unless you are a Time Traveller. Therefore, none of the above should be mentioned in a roleplay if your character is a normal human being. |
