General Information Character Name: Vesyr Player Name: Ferret Gender: Male Age: 18 Rank: Candidate and Scribe Apprentice Character Information Appearance: Coming up at 5’7’’, Vesyr is shorter than average and he doesn’t have a whole lot of weight to him either. Most of his duties involve looking through old records, recording new records, and basically just… knowing things. Not exactly physically strenuous duties and it shows up in his build. His hair is tawny brown. N He keeps it cut short just to keep it out of the way and doesn’t really give it a whole lot of thought. His eyes are also brown but, hey. At least they’re pretty, being a rather charming honey-like color. He tends towards very inconspicuous clothing. Scribes aren’t really well-paid, so his family just does the best they can, which translates to shoddy clothing. Really, they’ll wear clothing until there’s not much left, which means he’s usually stuck with something slightly dusty and old looking. It's also worth noting that he is slightly farsighted, meaning that he has trouble seeing things far away. No doubt it's from all that reading he does. Personality: Well, the best way to describe Vesyr is this: he basically goes through life with the constant uncomfortable feeling that, at some point, somewhere, he might do something wrong. While not exactly shy, he does his best to put other people forward. If this means putting himself back, well, that’s fine with him. He’s also desperately afraid of the idea that someone might not like him, so he makes an effort to be nice to everyone. Oh. And he doesn’t say ‘no’ very well. Sure, he’s loyal… just not to the point where he’d let someone else get hurt, even emotionally. It’s not that he’s a traitor, exactly… it’s more that he will offer to help an enemy, simply because he doesn’t WANT any enemies. But, once you get around his quiet nature, he’s easy to get along with if only because he makes an effort to get along with everyone. Vesyr is also fairly intelligent and independent in his own special way. While he’s very socially dependent on the approval of others, he’s perfectly fine at working on his own. He’s well aware that others occasionally try to take advantage of his good nature, but his optimism makes him think, “But what if they’re not and they really DO need my help?” Door mat, thy name is Vesyr. Or maybe that’s just Vesyr’s second name. It’s hard to say for sure. For the most part, he desperately tries to see the bright side of things. But, unfortunately, time has been teaching him that being a good person does not mean you are immune to bad things (like his father going blind and his mother being utterly unable to stop it). Slowly, he is becoming more jaded, which is rather unfortunate. He’s very intelligent and tends to remember just about everything he hears. Or reads, for that matter. History: His mother (Syralla) is a Healer and his father (Vessai) is a Harper, specializing in history (actually, there are some rumors about Vesyr’s true parenthood; it’s a fact that, despite being together for many years, Syralla and Vessai have only ever produced the one child, leading to rumors that Syralla may have actually been cheating on her husband when Vesyr was conceived). Despite these rumors, Vessai was happy to have any children at all. Anyone who mentioned the rumors to him merely got a shrug in response. Despite the allegations of cheating, the family was perfectly happy. Vesyr was the light of both of his parents’ lives and, if he was occasionally lonely as an only child, he was at least able to spend time with the other weyrbrats. His father tended to be a bit overprotective of the young boy, and tried to keep him from doing anything really dangerous, like hunting for tunnelsnakes or whatever it was that the other weyrbrats wanted to do that day. Because of this, Vesyr grew up rather protected and cloistered. Unfortunately, the happy family couldn’t stay perfect forever. When Vesyr was 16, his father started to have vision problems. At first, they were negligible: he’d mislay a skin or maybe just be utterly unable to find his shoes. These little problems became much bigger when he suddenly realized that he couldn’t find big things like… oh… his trousers. Even if they were right in front of him. Slowly, but surely, the man went blind. His Healer wife could do nothing about it. While Vessai is broken up about no longer being able to read the scrolls and hides he once cherished so much, he contents himself with passing along their knowledge to others. Vesyr’s parents were delighted when their son decided to become a Candidate. Alright, that’s a bit of a lie. Syralla is delighted by it. Vessai is far less so, since he’s read the various accounts of maulings that used to be oh-so-prevalent during Hatchings. But, he doesn’t want to coddle his son too much. Pets: Gold firelizard named Pyrite. She’s sassy. She’s outgoing. She’s extremely aware that she’s a Queen and therefore better than every other firelizard you’ll ever encounter. Undoubtedly regal, this little lady considers herself the queen of all she surveys. Arrogant and proud, she’s nonetheless intelligent and has learned several tricks from the patient Vesyr. Or, rather, she thinks she taught him to give her treats every time she performs a specific action. She is very proud of this. Although she is definitely spoiled, Pyrite earns her keep fiercely, by attacking any and all tunnelsnakes she finds. Actually, she’d probably go after rats too, except that it would upset Vesyr. (He’s quite fond of small animals, including rats). He won the egg in a game of chance at a Gather. (Note: I know a gold firelizard is a lot to ask for. I am quite happy to change this section. I just figured, 'hey. Worth a try!') Crafter Information Remove this section if not applying as a crafter. Craft: Scribe (I don’t remember if Scribes have their own craft, or if they are part of Harper Hall) Rank: Apprentice Speciality: History Candidate Information Remove this section if not applying as a candidate. Color Prefs: Green or Blue. Personally, I see Vesyr as a Greenrider but if you happen to come across the perfect Blue… well, I wouldn’t be upset. :3 I definitely couldn’t see him on a Brown or anything higher. (Also, I’ve already got a Bronze. I don’t want to be a hog). |

I don't mind him having a gold fire lizard, actually. Ther is no chance of him Impressing gold himself, and frankly you applied for one first! [appr] |
