Kayla watched as professor Kaar transformed a coin into an enormous ladybug. Her eyes widened at the sight, mostly because Kayla had an enormous fear of bugs and there before her was one! She stifled a scream but showed a bit of terror in her eyes, sinking back in her chair. The ladybug flew around the room before the professor changed it back and Kayla relaxed a little bit. She drew a ladybug for the fun of it on a peice of parchment, listening all the while. When a coin appeared in front of her...she started trying to change it into a very very small ladybug. Try after try after try....after try...no success, still she kept at it, not giving up, or getting frustrated. |

Aurora's eyes widened in shock at what had been produced. She didn't think it was possible for bugs to get that big! She smiled as it flew around the room, ladybugs were her favorite bug. Not wanting to repeat the same mistake Aurora drew a more realistic sized ladybug on the corner of her notes. She focused and flicked her wand, "Quienne." came her command. Nothing came as a result that time, she sighed and tried again. And again. And again. After a couple more tries she decided on a new tactic, her current one obviously wasn't working. Aurora had not been one to quit, and she almost wanted to at this point. However, she closed her eyes and focused hard. She pictured it's deep red wings adorned with jet black spots, the tiny feet that moved it along speedily. She went into every little detail in her mind before taking a deep breath, opening her eyes, flicking her wand and commanding yet again, "Quienne." Aurora squeeled in delight as a ladybug began crawling around on her desk, her hand shot up in the air, "Proffesor!" She said, trying to contain herself as she excitedly waved her hand in the air. |

Harriet stared at the coins. Harriet stared at the bugs. Harriet had no idea WHY anyone would want to turn a coin into a bug. Or how one could possibly put life into an inatimate object like that. Unless, of course, the coins weren't inatimate after all. Quienne! She muttered softly, waving her wand at the coin. Nothing happened. "Rats," She said. She was determined to find someway to connect the life with the lifeless, and shook her wand more forcefully. QUIENNE! Again, failure. Absolutely nothing happened. "Maybe I don't have a particularly lively coin," She mused. |

Kayla kept trying without success, finally she sat back and thought about what she could be doing wong. She thought and thought, for what seemed like hours but had really only been a minute or two. Finally she got an answer, 'Wake up Kayla!! You need to say the stupid spell to get it to work!!' She laughed at herself slightly then focused on the coin, picturing a tiny ladybug in her mind, then picturing the coin turning into one she said, "Quienne..." softly. The Coin instantly transformed into an itty bitty ladybug. Kaylas eyes widened and she just sat there, frozen in fear, staring at the bug thinking, 'I hate bugs, hate 'em! Hate 'em! Hate 'em!!!!' |

Transfigurations Professor
|
Professor Illiad watched in delight as his class tried and tried to get their coins to transform, but saw little success right off. One girl was even doing so without reciting the spell. It was Kayla, so he figured she would quickly realize her mistake. He fiddled with the coin in his hand, turning it into a ladybug, letting it crawl over the back of his hand, then turning it back. Suddenly one of his student's hand shot up. Had someone already done it so quickly! He had a bright group of students this year. He hurried over to Aurora who had indeed transformed her coin into a tiny ladybug. "Great technique, Aurora," the professor complimented her. "Five points to Gryffindor!" Then he heard Kayla's terrified plea, she had also transformed her coin, but it seemed that she was deathly afraid of the ladybug, which was now flying through the air. "Another five points to Gryffindor!" the professor exclaimed, turning Kayla's bug back into a coin. "I am extremely impressed your progress, Aurora and Kayla, and I would like to see you in my office after class. I am sure you will be very pleased with what I have to ask you!" "Now class, as you have seen, this is not an impossible task," the professor smiled and walked back to the front of the room. "Five more points to anyone else who complete the transfiguration. Those who have done so, just keep practicing. As I have been stressing, practice makes perfect." |

Aurora was feeling rather proud of herself when she'd won five points to Gryffindor. Aurora beamed at Kayla when she saw she'd done it. She turned to congragulate her, "Amazing job Kayla!" She noticed Kayla's fear and started to smile some more, "Aw, Kayla! The ladybug's not going to do anything to you!" She noticed it turn back to a coin again, "Especially not now!" She said laughing some. She was about to ask Kayla about her technique when she heard the teacher speaking. Aurora was worried at first that she'd gotten into trouble for talking again, but her fears were quickly put at bay. "Yes sir." She said respectully yet happily as she turned back to Kayla, "Oh! What do you think will happen?" Aurora was bouncing in her seat now. |

Kayla looked back at her and smiled, still shaken up, "Yeah i know they can't hurt me...I just hate bugs...and...I dunno....tiny red and black ones scare the living crums out of me... Anyway...I dunno what'll happen...Professor Kaar seems nice, I'm sure it cant be anything bad..." She slowly started to calm down and the fear finally left her face...for the most part anyway. She looked at the Professor and tilted her head, "Is it just me or...does the professor look younger when you tilt your head?" she asked Aurora, giggling slightly. |

Harriet groaned, staring at her coin, utterly perplexed. "Maybe I'm thinking too hard," She said. "Yeah. Thinking too hard. This isn't a question between life and the absence of life, this is just a simple itty bitty transfiguration spell. A cinch, right?" She bit her lip and aimed once again at the coin. The face on it seemed to be smiling mockingly up at her. Quienne! She said. Nothing. Her brow furrowed. What the heck was wrong with her? "Life, death, nothing? Dead coin. No, alive coin. Nu uh, wait, I've got it. Not coin. Ladybug in coin form." Quienne! She cast, excitedly. A ladybug sat before her where the coin had been, lifting the shells from over it's wings and flying up eye level to Harriet. But to Harriet's dismay, the ladybug was yellow. "Well, it is sort of cute," Harriet said softly. "Hey little guy, I think you look like a Stephen. Yes, Stephen the little yellow ladybug." The ladybug, only slightly larger than the normal size by about two pinhead lengths, (and I mean the tiny pins), made no response but simply hovered there over the desk. |

Karizma had barely listened, until the giant lady bug went sweeping around the room, then her intrest was caught. She eagerly took her coin and set in on the desk in front of her. She waved her wand, saying the spell, and nothing happened. As she went to try agian Aurora's hand flew into the air, and Karizma got mad. She'd wanted to get her's before anyone else, and now she wouldn't be likely to do it at all. As her anger bubbled she put her wand down on her desk, and slid the coin to the other side of the table, she had quit, what was the point, she was already in trouble for one class, why not add another one into the mix? |

Kayla noticed that the girl named Karizma and seemed to give up, she pulled out a peice of parchment and wrote, "Hey! Don't give up!! It really isn't that hard, just get the picture in you mind, and concentrate! Believe in yourself, I do! I know you can do it, just keep trying!!" and passed it onto her. She wasn't going to let one death glare stop her from trying to help another, that just wasn't her style. After passing the note, she gave Karizma a reazuring smile, then looked back at the profesor. |
