Please, tell us a little about yourself. How old are you, what's your name, and stuff like that. Give us some personal history on you. Also, how would you describe your personality?

My name is Matt. I am 25 years old. Currently I have a BA in history and am planning to get my masters and doctorite in East Asian History. As far as personality I tend to be aloof at first, but once I get to know someone I am more open.

Please list your in-game characters:

Arzax

How many skillpoints do you currently have?:

8016985 sp with a 2074 increase in sp per hour.

Do you have a microphone and are you willing to use Eve-Voice, Teamspeak, or Ventrilo?

Yes

At the moment, what ships do you tend to fly? What is your profession and what are your goals within the game?

I tend to fly a Raven, hawk, maticore or a battle badger. My profession is military and my goal for the game is to have fun.

If you have been in previous corporations, please tell us about them. Why did you leave them and why are you considering leaving your current one?:

I first joined Crimson Industries and development when I was a young character to further my knowledge of the game. This was a solid newb corp that helped its members learn about the game. I left this corp when they joined the militia. As a young character the militia only meant certain death over and over again for me. The next corp I joined was The Cruisers. This was more of a sporatic corp that needed more organization and more people to be online to work effectively. So to ensure my own fate I started a corp with Christopher Newport called Ninja Death Kitty. This way we could choose with wars we wanted to fight and who we wanted to mess with in-game. Being in a corp with only two people and the other member left to join a new corp I would also like to expand out.

Why are you interested in joining Hoist The Colors? What attracted you to our corporation? Do you know anybody within the corporation who could vouch for you?

I found out about this corporation from Christopher Newport. He had spent some time playing with members of the corp and found it to be a solid corp to join. Looking to expand our EVE experience beyond a 2 man corp this corp seemed to have the type of players we enjoyed playing the game with. Chris can vouch for me.

Activity. What part of the world do you live in and what is your time zone? Roughly estimate how many hours/weekly you could devote to Eve?

I am in the Central time zone in the US. I can devote at least 14 hours a week to EVE with a max of 58 hours if I don't sleep on the weekend.

How do you currently make ISK in Eve? Are you capable of funding yourself? Are you willing to work on ways to increase your ISK-intake?

I make ISK by pirating; ie bait canning or can flipping, mission running, some mining, and buying isk online. I currently have over 3 billion Isk and am able to support myself. Making money is always a good idea and learning new ways to do this or maximizing potential sounds great to me.

What does teamwork mean to you? Are you a team-player? Explain.

Teamwork is greatly important in Eve. Working together with other people to achieve a similar goal is essential in game advancement. Finding a team you can rely on means the difference of life or death in Eve. Teamwork is the reason Chris and I made our own corp since we could rely on each other. Setting traps as pirates we used teamwork all the time.

We love to use small ships such as Assault Frigates, Electronic Attack Frigates, and whatnot in PvP. It's something this corporation was built upon. Do you have any issues with that? If so, please explain.

I have no issues with that and am learning about small tech 2 frigates currently. The initial response of most people when playing the game is to get a big ship fast. I am now past that phase since I have learned that it takes a long time to properly fly larger ships. So with my knowledge of the game now frigates are the way to go for me for now.

Do you have thick skin? We have adult humor within the corporation. Are you a-ok with that?

I am a adult and I do not mind adult humor or criticism.

Are you a spy trying to infiltrate our little organization? If yes, please explain why. ^^

I am not a spy.

Hypothetical: You're on voice-comms and suddenly, out of the blue, you hear a female voice. Please tell us how you would react.

As I would act normally. There is no reason to act abnormally.

Scenario: We are at war with a corporation twice our size, and we are out-gunned and out-numbered 2-1. What should we do and why?

I have been at war with a corp three times the size of my corp and we won that war out of sheer intimidation. The other corp disbanded out of fear of war with us. However this will not always work. The best thing to do is to get to know your opponent. Find out how old the corps chars are and where they usually fly. Once we have this info we should use guerilla tactics and pick off small groups of them until there losses are so high they will surrender the war.

Scenario: We run into a helpless Freighter in low-security and ransom said Freighter pilot. Do we:
A) Honor the ransom

Please explain your choice.
A contract is a contract and you should honor all contracts.

First:
Please explain, in detail, how you have managed to acquire over 3Bn ISK?

Second:
Would you be willing to work towards running level-4 missions with our main agent?

Third:
We're a small corporation but growing. We're very selective on who we let in. Because of this, sometimes nobody is on. But that'll change in time. Are you ok with this?

So you've honored the contract and now the Freighter is trash talking you in Local. They call you and the Corporation weak, spineless pirates.

What is your immediate reaction?

Bought Isk online so that I would not have to worry about money.

Second:

I can run some Caldari Navy level 4 missions now, but I would be glad to work towards running missions with your agent.

Third:

Yes. I am close friends with Christopher Newport and we often play at the same times so I am not worried about some down time.

As long as we have the money who cares what they say. Before any other action should be taken I would have to consult with the corporation. If the offenses are bad enough then we can declare war on them.

That's a strike against you joining our corporation.

Would you like to say anything in your defense?

Buying ISK is a MAJOR EULA violation. Plus it promotes ISK farming in-game. If CCP ever catches up with you, you'll account -will be- banned. And a transaction of that size ... is a red flag to them.

I'm going to wait to see what the others think. Use your next post wisely.

There is a definite risk involved in what I did. However this is a game. Worst case scenario my character disappears. On the other hand a calculated risk so to not to have to worry about money. By doing this once I will not have to ever do this again in the future. I hope this one strike will not kill this application.

Arracard,

I regret to inform you that after discussions amongst the corporation- that your application has been denied. Now please, let me explain why.

Buying ISK is a rather large risk. Not only for you, but for those whom you associate with. See, when ISK leaves your wallet, for a reason as simple as buying a module, if you're buying said module with ISK purchased illegally, CCP not only punishes you but the person whom the ISK was transferred to.

CCP has this whole *guilt by association* thing going on with ISK sellers/buyers and they look for it very closely. You yourself admitted that you purchased ISK a week ago. So your character is *tainted* at the moment and is dangerous to not just yourself, but every member of HTC is you join our corporation.

In three months, if you wish to re-apply, you may. And we'd be more than willing to look past this issue easier than we are currently willing to do so now.

I am sorry but your application is hereby rejected.
