Page find option.

If you have a number of pages in a forum or a topic, and you have an idea where a something is on a page, you have the option to find a specific page now.

To do this, you must first have enough pages to give you the following look to them:

Posted Image

If you have the page list showing like this with a gap in there, you can use this feature.

Basically, just go into the box with the ... in.

Click on it, and enter a page number (see the second image).

Hit enter on your keyboard, and you should get taken straight to that page and it will appear highlighted in the page list (as shown in image three).

The Blog Feature

This is an add on for the board. You can now have your own blog feature on the board as well if you wish to.

When you click on the Preferences link (See earlier post on this if you haven't already) you have a link for your blog (underlined in red).

Posted Image

You then get some preferences for you blog set up - set up as you would like, before pressing the save settings option.

From there you can then post your blog. It is a layout pretty much like the message board.

Your blog continued.

Your blog can then be accessed by clicking on your username for your profile (if you've made it public).
I've highlighted the area in red on the first image.

And from the link/s there you can access the blog and add to, edit and just..... well blog!

Some of the basics on the board.

First of all, we have some pictures that can be used with our username, and appear as we post. I will be giving instructions on how you can use these features in a different post. For now this is designed to show you the areas they appear.

There are three main pictures.

The first is your avatar. This is situation by your username and is often a small image of a certain size.

The second is an area that will appear when you post something, and this is called a Signature. It can be made up of text, text and an image or an image only.

The third picture appears in your profile when someone clicks on it. This is just listed as Photo! Some call boards call it a personal photo. It doesn't have to be of you though. In this instance it shows a text link in your profile for people to click on.

All of these pictures will have some sort of size restriction on them! Please read the other thread about how to use these features so that you know what the sizes we allow on this board are. All boards have different rules about this, so please do not assume because you've used a certain size or image before it can be used here.

Image below shows the Avatar and Signature in use. Click on the smaller image to get the larger one showing.

This next image shows the area you can find your profile Photo: See the section about Profiles if unsure how to look at one. Remember, you click on the link to look at the picture.

Posting pictures in your posts.
Note: You cannot just post a picture from your computer onto the Internet. It needs to be taken from your computer and placed somewhere online first.
This tutorial is using a free hosting solution called Photobucket - Although there are other options out there. Please also remember - Do not just link across to someone else's pictures. This might be the easy way to do it, but you are in effect stealing their bandwidth, as well as not likely to show in your post for long because of a block put up to stop this happening.
It might take a little longer, but please always take that time to host any picture yourself! Its free and much better than getting an irate webmaster contacting you because you've been taking their bandwidth.

This is going to be done with the aid of screen captures to show you all how easy it is to get photobucket pictures on a message board, and also how you can resize them if needed.

If you know any of the steps you can skip what isn't relevant to your needs, but we are taking it right from the top.

First of all, you need to register an account with Photobucket. We're not going to do screen captures for that since it is fairly straightforward and if you can sign up to a message board, it really isn't any different - And to be honest if you are finding signing up difficult this is likely to be a step too much for you at this stage anyway.

Now, a little about how a picture is "seen" on a computer and what we are looking at to change the sizes etc.

A digital picture (whether from a camera, a scanner or even a mobile phone) is made up of tiny pin pricks of image. These are known as Pixels.

Now, when you have a scanned picture or one from a digital camera, invariably they are far too large for most message boards to handle, and unless you know how to use your imaging software that most scanners/cameras do have you are not going to be able to resize.

This is where Photobucket comes along. So, first of all, you upload your picture and you should get it showing something like the picture below.

You might need to click on the RESIZE option (as highlighted in red).

Now, depending on how large your image is originally, you get a series of options (the larger the picture, the more options are shown up to the 4 I've got on this picture).
If you image is a good size already, the last 2 options are less likely to show up and you won't need to change anything.

Now you need a size. To be honest, while 640 x 480 (pixels) is okay, it might still be a little on the large size for some boards so the safest option in this instance would be to go for the third option (website Email) - but it entirely up to you! Both sizes are better than most.

You will then get a pop up asking you to confirm you want to resize the picture.

(My pop up box is currently in Halloween mode by the way, hence the graphics - not trying to scare anyone).
