This is the new board software and so we're going to post a number of items with attached images which we hope will help you all to work out what is new here and how to use some of it all. Most is much the same as the old board, so hopefully you won't find too much difference for the general day to day posting. These are fairly large images so apologies to those still on dial up but we needed to keep them fairly large so people could make out the text still. First off, the board will look something like the old one on the front page. Click on the small image to get larger version.

Clicking on a username for information. If someone clicks on a member name, you get a profile area showing. To then find posts or other information about them, there is a drop down menu in the left side. The first image shows what you get if its someone else's profile. ![]() And this second image shows what you will see when it is your own name you click on.

Your Preferences and Inbox These are found in the top right corner as underlined in Red on the attached image. The Preferences link will give you a drop down menu with the following options: Change Avatar Change Signature Update Profile. The Inbox is for your PM's and you also get a drop down menu where you can: Compose Message Message Tracking.

Personal Message Inbox. If you click on the Inbox link, you will get taken to a page looking like the image attached. ![]() Please note, there is no function to delete PM's at this time - This is a decision by the Board software writers, however it does not affect the board or performance. If for any reason you get spammed via your PM's and it becomes a problem, please let us know and we will contact Zetaboards for advice on this. Otherwise, you can just put the messages into the default Archive folder. Just select the messages you want to move, and click on the Archive button in the bottom right alongside the Mark as Read and Mark as Unread buttons. Edited by I love MJNet, Jan 20 2008, 02:36 PM.

Tracking a Topic. If you want to keep an eye on a particular topic, you can do so by going into the topic. There at the bottom right is a small text link (shown with a red border in the attached picture). Clicking on this will allow you to track via your Preferences link (see earlier post to find your preferences link if your not sure where it is). ![]() This second image shows what you will see in your Preferences area once you are tracking a topic or topics. You can add or delete the same topic as many times as you wish. ![]() |

Your BB Code - How you can Underline, Italic and other features. This board uses what is known as BB codes to help you enhance your posts. The most notable feature is the basic ones most people know about, and they are to Underline, use Italics, Bold highlight a word or words, put something in a , add an image, email details or URL (website address). However, there are far more features now available to you via the Full posting option (Fast reply means you have to add the codes yourself, otherwise some are automated for you). To get an idea of what you can do with this board, click on the link Full BBCode list that is seen in your posting box. You can find options for your BB Codes in your standard posting area (either for a new topic or full reply) as shown in the first image: ![]() And if you click on the Full BBCode list you will get a lot of different options showing (see second image).

Using Preview before you post. This is one section that is different in layout to the old board. Now, when you click on the Preview button, you get your post appearing above the text box you're writing in. See the Image for a screen capture of a Previewed post.

Spoilers - Now you can hide them! Probably the most used new feature on this board we can have is the ability to hide spoilers! To do this, you need to place you information in between a certain code.
The code as shown above is now typed out without the code tags which are there to show you what you can do. You should get the following: Spoiler: click to toggle Click on the Spoiler:Click to toggle to read. Otherwise - you can ignore. So, to recap.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Embed a YouTube video. Should you have a YouTube clip you want to share, you can now place them in a post. Please note: We will strictly enforce a One Clip per post only rule to ensure it doesn't slow down the board loading time too much for other users! Persistent posting of more than one clip per post will result in a warning or even temporary suspension of your account. To embed a YouTube clip you need the direct link for it and then place it between the following tags.
This is how the above code now looks in the post. |
