2) In a Mixed Tag Team Match, James Storm & Awesome Kong (without Raisha Saeed) defeated Doug Williams & Gail Kim. Fans were a little leery of Williams at first, as despite him being a Brit, there’s always a fans’ mentality on shows like this (and this was exactly the same when it came to previous ROH shows) whereby U.K. fans want the ‘100% pure’ TNA experience and don’t like the idea of a relative unknown (to the masses) participating. However his workrate in this match and the spots he worked with Storm were great and he really won over the fans, to the point they were chanting his name at the end. This match was notable because the males also worked with the females, with Storm grappling with Kim in a prolonged series of spots, and everyone just accepted it. It got over great. Storm got heat on her at first, with kicks to the mid-section and a couple of suplexes, but she came back and ended up giving Storm a great top rope huracanrana. Finish came when Storm spat beer into Williams face, then superkicked him for the pin. After the match, J.B. announced that Williams had signed a TNA contract, and would be representing the U.K. in the upcoming World X Cup tournament. So I guess he did get his working visa problems sorted out. (courtesy TNA Wrestling news.com) |
