Not literally, lol, after all she is only 13 but she is partaking in a program at her dad's college(she is taking her dads place since he is in the wheelchair) where a group of people are all walking for the next month. Each is to walk as much as they can and at the end of the program they will have walked the amount it would take to get to Baghdad. It is to honor the soldiers who have and are serving in the military right now. As a incentive we are giving Bre 1.00 for every mile she walks and then at the end of the month we will tally up her miles and send that amount to 1st Lt Henderson's widow. He was my dh's 1st LT and he was killed back in April 2004, 3 months before his 1st born son was born. She has struggled these years trying to make ends meet and to raise their son who never got meet his daddy(they found out just weeks after the 2123rd left that she was expecting. 1st Lt was one of my dh's good friends and to this day we miss him greatly. :wah: :wah: I think at the end of this Bre will be very proud of herself. Especially when we drive down to Bowling Green and she gets to hand over the money and see what she did was a wonderful thing. Granted it will probably only be like 40.00-100.00 but still she will have earned it and it will be something she can be proud of herself for doing. And I am very proud of her for even wanting to do this. Yesterday she walked 3 miles and she is out walking right now as I speak. Sadly the weather is turning colder now so she wont be able to do much walking on some days but every little bit counts. And ultimately it doesn't matter how much she does it matters more is that she is doing it. I am a proud mama right now. |
