How I can be in two places at one time... Geesh how come things have to fall on the same nights and also at the exact same time. Tomorrow is back to school night. I told the band director I would help out introduce instruments to possible new band members (I volunteered for this mid summer). The recruitment performances was yesterday and Mr. Barnes is expecting a record number of new band members this year. Also tomorrow night is the awards night for the summer bowling league and I don't want to miss that. I can't miss them getting their 1st place trophy and other awards they might win. Shoot Dustin alone should get two individual trophies for being the top boy youth bowler in this league. I have already written notes to the kids teachers, letting them know I wouldn't be there. Now to break it to Mr. Barnes. Any miraculous ideas on how to be at both events? Edited by Cabann, Aug 26 2008, 11:04 AM.

What time is each event? Can you do the band thing for a little while, then go to the awards event? |

Ok, this is one of those times when you are going to have to disappoint someone, and I think that the band director will be able to cope without you. Don't stress this one. Your kids are more important and you are going to be part of the band all year long. So he will have to find someone to take your place, like his wife or someone's mother who really wanted to do this but you got there first (again!!). |

Taken care of. I made some calls and asked another mom to cover for me. She was already scheduled to help out, so she is going to get her husband to take my spot. This is the same mom who is going to help me with the booster club this year. See, I can ask for help when know I will need it...lol Who knew? There was no way I could miss this awards night. The kids are so excited. |

Thanks. I do feel a little bad for a couple reasons.... 1) I did tell him I would help way back in the summer.. and 2) I just found out he was planning on the kids being there. I didn't know that. Apparently he wanted the E (elite) and A (advance) band memebers to do a small performance. Since he only has 2 E band members (Steven being one) and 4 advance band (Destiny being one), he wouldn't be able to have the kids perform unless everyone was attending. He always springs things like this on us at last minute or changes the schedule up. He is a great band director and works wonders with the kids, but he needs work on his scheduling . Anyways it all worked out, he still gets to let the new incoming band members have hands on experience putting together instruments and we get to attend the awards night at bowling. Since it is a pizza party I wont even have to make dinner tonight. YIPPEE!!!! |

Well the results are in and Dustin did very well. He receieved 4 trophies. One for his team coming in 1st, the high average for boy, high scratch series for boy, and bowling a 300 game. Steven only won the 1st place trophy, he missed getting the most improved average by 1 pin. Destiny received two a trophies ,the 1st place and high handicap series for a girl. And Jay also received two 1st place and high game for men. All in all it went well. The kids had a great time. I helped out serving food and drinks to the bowlers. There was a lot of pizza left over so we ended up bringing home 1 1/2 large pizzas. A couple other families took pizza home also. I would say only half of the teams had shown up for this party. I let my younger kids stay and bowl a couple games for fun and then we came home. I was beat from watching kids all day and from the heat. If I wasn't so tired I would have let Steven talk me into letting him bowl longer. We get a small break from bowling because the next league doesn't start until the 6th and then it gets hectic because I work this league. Edited by Cabann, Aug 28 2008, 10:37 AM.
