Tonight is the last night for the bowling league (summer). This league is just a fun league, no scholarships. However since my guys came in first the second part of the league, they are having a bowl off with the team that came in first the first half. Dustin is on fire and has bowled 3 three hundred games in this league, two last week. Steven is bowling over two hundred at least one game. Destiny and Jay seem to be struggling a bit. Dustin and Steven are geared up for tonight and want to win . They are very competitive. Keep you fingers crossed for them as the team they are bowling against consists of 3 adults and a 19 year old jr. And our team is one adult (Jay) and 3 jrs.

I promised the kids I would go and watch them tonight and I am sure glad I did. Here are their scores.... Jay 144 209 200 Steven 197 243 192 Destiny 106 171 99 Dustin 274 246 300 Steven and Dustin had 3 great games. Destiny had one really good game and Jay over his average 2 games. In total they won the first two games, but lost the third. They came in first. Dustin has the highest average, and the highest scratch series.for boys. Steven is close to most improved average for boys, he was one pin down going into tonight and bowled above his average each game. We will see next week if he wins that trophy. Destiny should get a trophy for highest handicap series for girls and they all will get a first place trophy, patch and pin. STeven and Dustin were so excited they couldn't stop sing we are the champions when we arrived at home. Jay finally admitted that Dustin is a way better bowler then him and Steven is fast aproaching. I can't believe Dustin bowled 4 three hundred games in this league and he also this week he went to practice at his other alley he bowls out of and rolled a 300 hundred there..too bad that was only practice, they did do a print out for him thou. |

They can bowl as Jrs. up to the age of 25, or at the age of 18 bowl as an adult. It all depends if you want to win scholarships or bowl for money. Zach keeps talking about switching to adult standings since he turned 20. Believe it or not but Dustin isn't the best bowler at our lanes (even though he is the highest average boy in this league). We have had a couple kids go to the nationals. Dustin has now learned how to control his shot. He has power and can make those pins fly. I was speaking with the youth director last night and she wants Dust to join the Sat. morning scratch trio league. My son doesn't think he is ready for that yet. Plus he has to work at that time. I wish the league would update the standings on the net, but for some reason they haven't for the past two weeks. |

I forgot to say that Dustin did try a PBA Experience league and it was too hard for him. In this league they bowl on lane condition similar to that of which the pro bowlers bowl on. The oil patterens change, if I remember right he bowled on 5 different patterns... chameleon, scorpion, cheetah, shark, viper ( might be a couple more). When the pattern changed the bowlers would have to change their shot. Change their release, move their mark and even bowl with a different ball. Most bowlers have a number of balls and they each react differently. Some are better for different lane conditions. Dustin has only bowled the 300s on house oil. |
