Last night Jay wanted to take me out. We both know we need to spend time alone without the kids just so we can talk work on our marriage.

He wanted to go to Thunder Valley, an Indian Casino located near by. I am not one who likes to gamble. Money is too hard to come by to just throw it away. When ever I do go, I only take $20 and once it's gone, I am done. Last night my $20 was gone in a flash. I waited for Jay to finish and then we headed back. We were on the freeway maybe 5 minutes when I heard a TWANG sound, the front passenger tire blew. Jay gets the car to the side of the road and starts looking for the spare. He had to pull out of the trunk three bowling bags, a couple of loose bowling balls and a bunch of other items. He found the spare but couldn't locate the jack. It took almost 45 minutes sitting on the freeway until we were back on the road, driving with a donut as the spare. The car just didn't feel right so when we got off the freeway, Jay pulled into a gas station that is on a very busy intersection...3 gas stations on three of the corners and a burger king on the 4th. He pulls into a safeway gas station and wants to add a little air to the spare. As he is adding the air I hear a BOOM. The spare blew. I started laughing because I thought Jay was going to pee his pants. It scared the you know what out of him. He decided to take the first blown tire over to a Shell gas station since they sold tires. They didn't have the correct size. As we were talking about what the next move was going to be I notice two teenage boys (maybe 18 or 19 years old) following a teenage girl. They walked through the parking lot we were in, the girl turned around and walked really fast toward the shell station, which was starting to close up. It was late. I kept watching to make sure the girl was alright as jay started making phone calls to see if he could find someone with a spare that would fit the car. The girl I was watching couldn't get anyones attention at the shell station so she heads back in our direction with the boys not too far behind her. The boys start gaining ground so she bolts through the intersection to an AM/PM gas station. The boys notice me watching, used the crosswalk and crossed to the burger king and then started to cross toward the am/pm. By this time I had seen enough. I looked at Jay and said I am going to stop those two punks. I use the first cross walk and start crossing on the second one when I see the girl run out of the am/pm and head down the street. I made it across the strees and the boys start coming toward my direction. I got right in front of them and said "Leave that girl alone", one of them looks at me and said "I don't know what you are talking about maam". I reapeated my self and so did he. I called his bluff and said again leave her alone, I have alerted the authorities. I didn't since Steven had my cell phone, but I wanted to scare them. As soon as I turned to walk into the am/pm an officer pulled up. My jaw about dropped. The boys turned and headed in the direction of the safeway gas station. I went in bought a soda and headed back to Jay. I asked Jay when I returned if he had seen those two teenage boys. I guess he last saw them running down the street (different direction then the girl). I told him about my conversation with them and about the officer pulling up. I looked back across the street and now two officers were there, blocking a white truck. That was perfect timing for the police to show up. The girl was safe.

Back to the car issue...........
My 17 year old son shows up, his spare doesn't fit. My 19 year old son shows up and his spare didn't fit. I am just laughing because nothing was working out. It was getting almost comical. Jay finally gave up and put the blown spare back on and said he was just going to drive it slow. I told him go ahead but I am riding with Zach and Dustin can follow you. He gets the car here in one piece. The time is now about 1:30 in the morning.

This morning Jay gets the blown tire to the tire shop. I had to call a couple people about my date, before the yard sale got to busy. My sister said during our conversation "You know things happen for a reason, if you weren't at that gas station who knows what could of happen to that girl". SHe is right I didn't think of it that way. But all I know is there is a reason I very seldom go out at night and I told Jay I don't want anymore date nights!!!!!!!! LOL

Guess y'all need some "date days". And I agree with your sister...you were there for a reason and I'm glad you were!

Sure hope your next date goes better though!

You know what really makes me laugh. The safeway gas station was closing up when Jay walked over to the shell station. The young attendent walked over to me standing next to the car and asked if everything was alright. I told him I was fine, my husband walked acroos the street to buy a new tire. The attendent was a little apprehensive to leave the station with me and a broken down car. I know that he probably made sure the cameras we working before he left. The video tape if they ever check it, shows not only us but two young men trying to change a tire (my oldest two sons). I kept joking around asking Jay if we should call Steven and see if his bike spare would work since his older brother's spares didn't.

I guess the joke could be...

How many people in the Brown family does it take to change a tire?

You may have saved that girl from being raped or worse. At the same time, maybe "Date Night" should be done with all of the children alerted that you may not make it home....HAHAHAHA!!

Dustin went to work Sat. morning and told the events of Friday night too one of his coworkers, who told somebody else and so on and so on. Later in the afternoon Jay was callled into work and the whole weekend staff knew. I guess everyone agrees, it was a memorable experience.
