I thought it might be kind of fun seeing what kinds of different hobbies that adults/kids enjoy in different states. My hobbies: Reading is my passion, If I could find some time to read again. I also love gardening, I find it relaxing. I enjoy camping and spending time at the lake. My life basically revovles around my kids and their activities. I do enjoy spending time with them. Even more so with my oldest. Since he is on his own, we are much closer now and great friends. I like to cook and experiment with new recipes. I have been having fun experimenting with different flavors with herbs from my herb garden. My almost 20 year old son enjoys basketball, bowling, and running. He along with Jay are training for a marathon that will be held next Novemeber (I think). Zach is into astronomy and enjoys star gazing. He is getting ready to start his third year of college. My 17 year old is an all out bowling fanatic. He is in three leagues and has a high average, in one league it is 235 (that is a no tap league). He enjoys movies and stays active by playing basketball and any other sport that comes along. He is very physical and plays hard, he has the scars to prove it..lol He is the one of my kids that plays a lot of video games. He doesn't like to read but has taken well to art and drawing (he took an art class his final trimester his senior year). I hope he continues with it. He just started his first college class and plans on become a History teacher for the jr. high level. My 11 year old son enjoys being active..all the time..non stop. He loves to bowl, skateboard, skim board, track and field, and basket ball. He spends his quiet time drawing and trying to create his own comic books. Like his oldest brother he likes to star gaze. He really enjoys music and is having a great time learning how to play instruments. He is a clown and likes to make people laugh, however, at times it gets rather annoying. And my only daughter, my sensitive one. She gets her feeling hurt easily. She has a big heart and starts crying when she hears news of animal or child abuse. I have to turn the news off when she is in the room. She loves animals. She also enjoys anything crafty. She is learning how to sew, she likes to paint draw and create. She can spend hours with a glue gun and popsicle sticks. She likes to write and is always writing her own stories. She too, like her brother enjoys music. When she is in her room she has her cd playing on. She enjoys music lessons and is thrilled she is now learning how to play her second instrument. Pretty much all these hobbies are typical for CA at least in our area. What do you or your family enjoy doing? What keeps your kids busy in the summer? How do you spend your free time? What do you like to do as a family? |

Don and I like to sit on the front porch or down at the pond and watch the birds and the dogs. Sometimes I cast a line and catch a few fish (Don doesn't care for fishing). I always throw them back, unless they are small enough for the duck to eat. Don likes to go on long walks with the dogs and I would to if I were able. We both like to read and Don loves to play online role-playing games like World of Warcraft and Everquest. The only game I ever play online is Scrabble. I like to paint, take photos (have a BS in Art Photography), sew quilt squares and do crafts, although I never get to much because of the dogs. I like to collect things. I love to garden and Don is catching the gardening fever too. I'm not much of a cook, but I love to bake. Hmmmmmmmmmmm...can't think of anything else right now. |

I love to read ... just about anything I can get my hands on. I love to cook and bargain shop. I love to do any tupe of crafty things. We are a Scouting Family... except I LOATHE camping. Seriously. My idea of "roughing it" is a hotel w/o room service. But I also try to make the best of any situation - to the point that the other leaders didn't realise how much I hated camping for several years. I was awarded an "Oscarette" for Best Acting Like She Likes Camping at the year end banquette ( Aunt Jemima syryp bottle painted gold. ) I used to garden, but with my shoulder and neck so messed up, I can't indulge. :( The kids like to play outside. Meg is my artsy crafty child. She loves to read and anything to do with animals. No video games for her - "too dull" Michael likes anything to do with soccer or baseball; we are working with his disabilities still. Matthew loves Bionicles, Legos, Tech sets of any kind... so he can build stuff. |

Aggie loves to garden, watch old war movies, stay in touch with his friends from the military. Loves going to the VFW halls for Bingo night. Long drives to nowhere but with gas prices so high now we haven't done that in a couple of months. He's not to much into really going "out" to be with big crowds. He would rather stay home and watch movies, play video's, read a book....most are westerns, Sci-Fi, horror. As the joke around the house I'm the "City Girl"......Love concerts, nightlife...not bars. Shopping, bargain hunting, garage sales, flea markets, crochet, needlework of most any kind. Love our pets as if they're our own children....and can't pass up a stray to save my life. Do not enjoy camping or roughing it in any way. MY WAY is the Holiday Inn with room service, a bed, television, a/c and all the comforts of home. Aggie does like "roughing it"...he'd be in heaven if I'd ever do it....plus in literal shock. No children as I decided for myself that was a bad idea years ago. Aggie has one stepson from his second marriage....I'm third time's a charm number 3. |
