SHE'S COMING HOME!!!

Don just talked to the vet that did her surgery. He said she is in a tremendous amount of pain, but is ready to come home.

We'll keep her in the large dog crate (set up in the living room) until she is more mobile and feeling better. She still hasn't stood up for the vet.

Thank you all for your concern, prayers and good vibes! I was so afraid yesterday that she wouldn't be coming home.

I am so happy to hear that. Geesh, I was so worried. Tell her that she's one lucky pup to have such good parents like you and your husband.

We just got home with her. Bonnie is in very bad shape. She will be confined to a crate for the rest of the month. The vet said Bonnie can stand and walk, but she's in so much pain she doesn't want to move. For five days we have to carry her outside and then encourage her to stand to potty. After that we have to encourage her to walk a bit so her muscles and joints don't stiffen up.

She still has a drain in her badly damaged back thigh and sutures here and there. We take her back next week to have the drain removed and then back to have the stitches removed a few days later.

Right now she is lying on some towels next to the crate and Don is sitting in the floor petting her. I tried to prepare him so he wouldn't be shocked at her appearance, but that was impossible to do. She looks horrible. There were so many puncture wounds the vet said he gave up trying to count them all.

The other dogs will not be allowed in the house for a few days as Bonnie needs a quiet, stress free atmosphere to heal. Her sister will NEVER be allowed near her again.

Please continue to send Bonnie healing vibes as she has a long road ahead of her.

She's been a little more alert today, but we are having difficulty getting her to eat. The ER vet faxed Bonnie's paperwork to our vet so Don went and talked to him today (Don took off work to help with Bonnie). He said that we have got to get her to eat. She's drinking well, but her urine is very dark and we're worried about myoglobinuria which could cause renal failure. If her urine is still real dark next time she goes potty we may be headed back to the ER vet this evening.

Awwww, I she hopes she recovers from this.

I do want to add that when I told Destiny about this incident she was very concerned. She went into her room this afternoon and was very quiet. I went to check on her and to get her moving to get ready for bowling league. She was sitting on her bed sewing you a puppy. When I asked her what she was doing, she said she wanted Aunt Paula to have a stuffed puppy to cuddle with at night to make her feel better.
