Please keep your fingers crossed for Brenna!

Our husky mix, Brenna, just got bit by a water mocassin. Her face is swollen up like a balloon. She and Don are at the vet's now.

Please, please keep your fingers crossed that she will be okay. She is not a very big dog and I am worried about her airways becoming obstructed due to swelling.

Brenna is the dog who adopted our orphan kitten. She's also the one that went missing just before Christmas and I found her the next day based on a "feeling" I had. Finding Brenna that day was the best Christmas gift I could have given Don.

I am worried sick.

:(

They're on their way home. The moccasin only got her with one fang...on her lip. I bet she won't stick her nose down in a snake's face again!

Vet said she would be okay. He gave her two shots and a bunch of meds to take at home.

Okay, now I can cry.

She's doing very well tonight. The swelling is going down some and she even came out for a late evening walk. I'm sure she'll get drowsy again when we give her the Benedryl tonight.

Thanks everyone.

I went through that with my Bonnie. Always putting her nose somewhere she shouldn't. She even tried to eat a wasp once and the wasp won.

Poor baby...

Jesse tried to eat a wasp once when he was just a baby (he found it while crawling). Wasp won that time too, although he did manage to eat a spider.

Brenna recovered quickly and completely. I hope she's learned her lesson!

Destiny ate a worm when she was a baby. My nephew by far had the most disgusting habit when he was a toddler. He use to eat slugs. I went to visit him once when he was 3, he was out in the back yard playing. I reached down to pick him up and he had slug slime trails all over his face. Ewwww. He will never live that one down.

I'm glad Brenna is fine. I agree I hope she learned her lesson.
