Steven wrote this in class today and is going to read this at the beggining of his oral report. I will make sure to get pictures of his posters and props before he leaves for school tomorrow. Here is his poem. Destiny and and were laughing after I read it to her.

Mississippi is cool

Mississippi is the place to be
Farm living and country to be seen
Land and water as far as the eyes can glare
You will even meet people who really care.

Learn about the civil war
You will find that history isn't a bore.
Lots of wild life to be seen
I don't know about you but that is keen.

Cotton fields swaying in the wind
Running through the field could be a trend
Bees flying around as it’s a game
Please don't touch them, that would be lame.

See a river that flows very far
During the night you can see the stars
During the day there is lots to see
Check it out for yourself if you don't trust me.

Mississippi is a great place to stay.
I would go there any day.
I want to try some hush puppies.
But please don't feed me any guppies .

LOL...I think that should become the official Mississippi State Song (sung to the "Green Acres" melody)!

I wish it had been the right time of year to send Steven some cotton out of the field as we see cotton fields from our front porch.

You should have heard him practicing this morning. He was so funny, also when he reads his report he sounds like a commercial. He uses the Ole Miss can cozy with a individual plastic milk bottle, and when he talks about fried cat fish and hush puppies, he mentions to make sure to have a cool glass of milk with it. At that point he picks up the can cozy, pretends to take a drink and says "Now thats refreshing".

(Paula, check your pms)

Oh, I wish I could see his presentation!
You might just get your own private viewing. I am leaning towards the end of July for us to take a vacation and this morning I checked the irs web site and got confirmation that the stimulas check should be on its way in a couple weeks. Once I have that in my hands, I will start searchig for amtrack tickets.

Let me know if the end of july doesn't work out for you and I might be able to plan for some time in August. I will just need to work around a couple bowling tournaments the kids have in Reno at the National Bowling Stadium.

You might want to bring extra clothes.... once you get to see the beautiful country in this area, you won't want to leave! LOL

I can't wait. I am really looking forward to this trip. I have been checking into transportaion and I think amtrak is out of the question but Greyhound might work. I still have plenty of time to find a deal. Plus believe it or not since Jay has seen how excited I am about this he told me he will try to work some overtime to help with the cost and my oldest son said he would pitch in also. The kids and I haven't had a vacation in a long time except going to Reno. Last year with Ray being sick and dying, that was no vacation. I just wish July would hurry up and arrive.

Look into air fares as well Cindy. Lots of online places offer great specials on air fare and it's a lot faster than Greyhound!

I think I'll plan myself a birthday party and invite everyone here to attend, so make plans now folks! Party at my house!
