What did you fellers think of Bret Hart's eventual return to WWE on RAW? I'd woken up in anticipation this morning to watch RAW only to find Sky+ hadn't recorded it. I'm presently downloading the episode in HD to watch it tonight (on my new movie cube w00p w00p - gives me an idea for another thread. Personally, I was a huge Hart fan as a kid but having read his autobiography I decided I didn't really like him at all, and took Shawn's side. Now my mum has read it and she still loves him, so perhaps I've misunderstood his book in places, but the fact remains I loved his character and can't wait to see how he is 12 years hence. What did you guys think? |

I'll probably watch both shows in the near future, Raw is repeated on Thursday and I think Impact is over the weekend so I'll also be able to make a better comparison then. Having said that I have read about the shows. As Nabs mentions TNA was considered to be the better show by a lot of critics, but that's not to say Raw wasn't bad. *SPOILERS FROM HERE* One of the main problems with Raw was that Bret didn't exactly do much. He came out at the beginning of the show to confront Shawn Michaels and got a kick in the happy sack from Mr McMahon at the end of it, but apparently apart from a brief discussion with Chris Jericho he wasn't seen at all doing any segments backstage. I thought that was pretty odd and he'd be at the focal point of nearly everything going on, but I guess that wasn't to be. It was his first night back in a WWE ring in 12 years so I can understand why he perhaps didn't want to be too involved. Anyway, I think a potential money-making feud with Shawn Michaels was flushed down the bog early on in the show when they shook hands, Bret looks in terrific shape and I'd love to see a Bret vs HBK match at WrestleMania, or at least some sort of feud involving those two plus McMahon. The Sun compared it to when Eric Bischoff debuted and he and McMahon simply shook hands, putting to be all rumours about a massive feud and a potential WCW revival among other things, which is a comparison I agree with. At least we'll be seeing more of Bret vs McMahon, but I can't help but feel the whole show could have given us fans a whole lot more. I don't know much about what happened on TNA apart from the debuts of numerous ex-WWE midcarders and jobbers, Val Venis, Shannon Moore and Orlando Jordan failed to make me give a monkeys quite frankly. Jeff Hardy coming back was mildly surprising, but otherwise it was basically another WWE reunion party from what I've read. Of course the wrestling was better as we all knew it would be, I think TNA should go back in that direction rather than trying to match the sports entertainment aspect of their competition, their storylines suck to be honest. It was good to hear that they're gearing their show more towards teenagers, adults and more serious wrestling fans, the pre-teen WWE product featuring the superhuman John Cena has well and truly run its course for me. |
