Erm.. Cluck?
I heard about this a few weeks back, that people are campaigning to have the book banned, simply because it is distracting children from the "true path of Christianity"(Yes it is us christian's fault this time). It is only a minority of quite extreme believers, but I still think this is absolutely pathetic.

I read that one woman said "Magic is herecy, and all who read that book are heretics"

I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing.

What do you think about this?

It's all... feathery and whatnot
Absolute Tripe. I know a lot of these Christian people who simply boycott the series because it has "magic" in it.

Honestly, I'm a Christian and while I still associate with the above people, I think it's ridiculous. Books open a door of imagination and in all honesty, where would we be without it? Would (dragging religion into this) God have created us with an imagination if we couldn't use it?

The point is, that you should look past that they use "magic" and look further. It's a constant battle of good Vs. Evil. Every time. The battle against an evil that is always there, narrowly prevailing and ending up wiser than for the ware. Harry Potter shows us more of the dangers of the real world than distract us from them. It shows a good solid point that evil never sleeps and we should always be alert to it, though some people (comparing them to Cornelius Fudge here a moment) refuse to believe that those dangers exist, happy to be complacent in their regular life, only believing what we tell them a tad too late.
