This post will be a list of films i reccomend that people go and see if they have not already. Add to the list if you want but make sure you write why, so we know what kind of film it is. If you can also please put the directors name for people that are fans of that. Thankyou. Martyrs is an extreme horror film, directed by pascal lugier that shows the psychological effects of torture and psychical abuse. It dives into many taboo subjects and the darkest recessess of the human mind. The film is tough to watch for those that have been victim to abuse, as it may trigger tense emotional reaction as the camera candidly shows the treatment of the two lead actresses. Definitely worth watching for extreme cinema aficionados and horror fanatics. Koriyashi 1 is a dark humoured cult phenomenon, directed by japan's Takashi Miike. Critics have panned the film as 'torture pornography' in what appears to be senseless acts of violence. If one can look past the gruesome displays a truly breathtaking film will be discovered. Every shot is done with a purpose, to create the truly bizzare downfall of the Japanese gangsters. Uniquely there are no heroes and every character is portrayed as a soulless and sadistic person. Several critics slammed the film as misogynistic, which is an absurd statement of asburd hyper-feminism. Not only does the film feature female leads that are the highlight of the film behind the fabolous Tadanobu Asano. In a wonderfully shot S & M scene towards the climax of the film, Asano is restrained and beaten by Palynn Sunn as Kakihara nonchalantly withstands the beating. The dark humour is not without its reasoning as the cowardly protagonist of the film is a perfect metaphor for manipulation and trust. |
