Do you think today’s teens are the same as teenagers 50 years ago? why/why not? |

I don't think so. Teenagers are a lot more violent and the most changed thing is that we curse a lot more and start cursing a lot younger than 50 years ago. |

I'd say definitely not. Technology has changed a teenager's lifestyle majorly. A lot of us spend our days in front of a computer now. xP And as wietepiet said, we do seem to start cursing at an early age these days. It was ridiculous hearing some 9 or 10 year old call someone a fag at some camp that I volunteered at. |

Agreed. Teenagers from 50 years ago (example: Our parents?) are soooo much different from the ones now a days. Not only violence but many teenagers but I think that sometimes, teens think that we can do whatever we want, in other words, we think we have the liberty of doing anything. Compare it back to 50 years ago... teens were very obedient, and a lot more hardworking :O *edit* And as for what Andre said, well, a lot of us does spend our time on the PC (this does include me :P) and I do feel that somehow, technology affected us too :O Edited by Hersheys, Nov 25 2008, 11:40 AM.

Nope. Not at all. First, because there were different stereotypes and beliefs. Nowadays people in general are more carefree, more rebelious... an the list goes on and on. For example, could you see a homosexual tv program 50 years ago like we can see now in MTV? This just is an example of how the society in general has changed, and how with time passing people keep changing. And topic moved. Edited by PolkaDot, Nov 25 2008, 12:57 PM.

My went through this teenage years in the 50's (born in '36), and the way teenagers are raised then and now is completely different. Besides the fact that kids got high and had premarital sex behind parents backs (maybe not as MUCH as now), we're just so so so different. Teens today are materialistic, and have less respect for most everything. Teens now are also more violent. yay, progress. |

I definitely think teens today are a lot softer and technology dependant than 50 years ago. Even i see a lot of changes from my age group to say 15-16 year olds these days. It may be just me and my group of friends, but a lot of teens these days seem to have no practical knowledge or skills. All they do is really spend all thier time on a computer or cut off from society behind thier earphones. I must say you guys need to take those earphones out and go pick up a few skills. I don't know anyone around the age of 16 who can even fix minor things. I couldnt believe when my cousin called me because he didnt know how to put gas in a car. Ive seen many cases where my friends younger siblings just dont give a damn about anything but how crappy thier lives are. Why are so many teens so emo these days? |
