Just wondering

I wasn't here for the whole discussion concerning ExiaMS's revamp. I just wanted to know where the server is standing. Will you wipe or leave it the way it is? Or compromise and not wipe but add change stuff? I'm not looking for drama, I'm just asking cuz the other threads are closed and I'm curious.

edit: feel free to close this after you answer to prevent people freaking out or something.

it's probably too soon for anyone to say =\

it'll be a while before exia makes his decision i'd assume.

Unfortunately, now that it's been brought up, I'm somewhat reluctant to grind any more levels until it's been decided one way or another. I haven't been doing too much pure grinding lately anyway, and having most of my friends quit already, I don't see a point in the mindless destruction of Skelegons if the characters will be wiped anyway. Until then, I guess I'll just work on my Mario Kart Wii VR.

Same as girlfriend, to be honest

After, what, 3 months of playing on and off Exia, I hit 120 last night, which is a huge achievement for me. I had problems with everything and everyone around me, exams, school, etc etc, and to finally hit my goal felt good.

Now, if the server gets wiped, all that hard work will be gone. Sure, I'll still play the 'new Exia' but not as much as I am doing this one.

But, by the way as it looked last night on Exia, there will be the revamp.

QQ Myles, a few days of work. :P

Well, Dylan wants to make the server more fair and balanced, and he wants to make it even more GMS-alike, and in order to do some of this, there needs to be a wipe. It's not just a random wipe. :x

If you guys want to know, we are talking about things on a test server hosted by dylan. Nothing is a solid yes or no at this point, so don't bother asking right yet. I'm sure Dylan or Dom or Jasper or someone with authority will release information when things become certain.

As I've mentioned previously I don't think people like PS's to be like GMS. Look at all the top PS's, they are all 500x and 5000x, which means most people don't care about maxing out in a day. If anything, Exia is 'too hard' in this regard. I think it's fine the way it is with a few minor tweaks, would it be better for 1 person who hit level 200 3 times to leave or 5-6 casual players to leave after a server wipe?

Just my 2¢.

It's not the level. It's the equipment. With people dropping 3 attack capes like they're nothing, there's no point in trying to scroll a 10 STR one or anything like that. There's little to work for other than being the guy in the boss runs so you get first crack at scrolling a better cape.

Never thought i'd say this, but i'm adding on top of Zeek's explanation.

If you also look at the top PS's on the top100, they also require you to vote to acquire things, some may even have you vote before even accessing the site itself. In that regard most of the votes don't come from people who willingly vote for a good server, but vote to even see what the server is about. Once you hit top 10 with a script like that on your site, you're staying on the top 10.

I'll vouch for that. I played SydneyMS (#1 on the list) for a little bit w/ my friend, and they had an event that gave you some "points" that let you max a stat or w/e if you voted. A lot of servers get their votes by bribing you with items or forcing you to vote, like Chris mentioned.

Doubt I'm the only one, but I'd rather play on a lower-ranked server on the Top100 and not have to vote to get what I could normally here, rather than play a top10 server there and have to vote to even see what the server's about.

I understand why there'd be a wipe, because let's face it, when a server has 10 attack 6 slot gloves clean and people are dropping "rare, hard to get" items, you're not very GMS-like. Yeah, I realize we all left GMS for our own personal reasons. Maybe it was the rates, maybe it was the "difficulty", or maybe you just hate feeling forced to buy NX to be amongst the "pro" group, either way we all left it for a reason.

However, when a server that TRIES to be GMS-like is now more like a server where you can get "hax" statted items for little to no effort. All it takes is asking someone for an item, facestompers and SCG's for example, and chances are you'll end up with one for either free or little cost, and their stats will be through the roof compared to their GMS-counterpart.

Sure, having our levels wiped and whatnot will suck pretty badly, but we're no longer "GMS-like". When it comes down to it, we're just a low-rate server with all the horribly over-statted items of the higher rate servers.

Sadly, I'm gunna have to +1 to the wipe. When AquaPQ came out along with the items, in my opinion, that's when the server pretty much died to some people. People might be playing the server, but the GMS-like feel to it was officially gone. Just my two cents.

Top GMS players still are better equipped than the top players here. But then again, some of the problem comes from hacked **** not getting rolled back or wiped or anything, meaning there are items that are perfectly 10% White Scrolled because of dupers. Of course, there is BSUCLA's legitimate 144/21 Dragon Faltizan, but a lot of other "perfect" items came from hackers. Plus there are the people who use so much NX that they can afford to scroll stuff that takes a 0.5% chance of happening, whereas even if the players here are that rich, there's not enough supply on the server to even think about going for it.

As for the voting, it is nice to be high enough to attract players, but I honestly would dislike if this server became #1 on the lists because every idiot who can't manage to type more than "cc plz lah or i rprt u!!!!!!!!!" or "giv ur maso 2 mi plz i nid@@@" that looks for a private server to play ends up clicking on the server and joining, which shows up as this great big population in sheer numbers, sure, but ruins the server by causing six simultantious KS wars at each Skelegons map and all sorts of Smega drama worse than what we've seen tenfold.

Also, a non-scrolling vote button would be more appealing to me. I kinda...adblock the stuff that keeps moving because it hits me right in the ADD part of my brain and I get mildly annoyed with it.

I'm not so sure of that.

Not everyone has the time to be dedicating to hitting 120 in a day or 2 days. There's no reason to demean his hard work.

I didn't mean for this thread to turn into everyone's opinions about why or why not there should be a wipe. There's already a thread for that, and as you can see it was closed. Though, no one has flamed so I guess that's pretty good. I was only looking for a response from an admin, but I guess even if I had specified that people would have replied regardless. Moving on. I do apologize for my curiosity. But since NEITHER of the 2 threads on this subject came to any consensus, I was curious because I haven't been around lately. But I'm not going to not bother, thanks.

I don't see any problem with this little debate here, unlike the other thread where it became a flame war. Here's another idea, would it be possible to do an equipment wipe? If levels are not the problem (and they really shouldn't be as Maple is a a lot more fun when your 120 than when your 20), if we get rid of all the great items and revamp the gach/claw system, our problems would be well on their way to being solved, correct?

I really don't want to lose my equipment, however it'd be better to compromise at that instead of losing my time invested too.
