Jack Graham: Build Your Life on Jesus or no Heaven for you Posted by: Bob_Wilkin I only caught the last few minutes of today’s (Feb 11th, 2009) Power Point radio program. Pastor Jack Graham was discussing the house built on the rock and the house built on the sand (Matt 7:24-27). He said, and I wrote this down a few seconds after he said it, so I believe this is close to precisely what he said, “If you build [your life] on anything other than Jesus Christ, you are on your way to hell.” I find it sad that Lordship Salvation speakers can openly proclaim works salvation and yet few listeners react negatively. If a Mormon said the same thing, Evangelicals would reject it. If a Catholic priest said the same thing, many Evangelicals will reject it. But if a Baptist Pastor of a megachurch says it, then it must be okay. Zane Hodges taught that the ending of the Sermon on the Mount has dual application. In the first place it means that unless a person believes in Jesus, his eternal destiny is built on sand. In the second place it means that unless a person lives for Jesus, his temporal well being is built on sand. The view that a person must live for Jesus in order to go to Heaven is a denial of justification by faith alone. I went on the Power Point website to attempt to listen to the end of today’s broadcast to get the quote exactly right; however, there didn’t appear to be anywhere on the site where there were archived broadcasts. If one of you can find it, let me know. |
